Product Description

PURSEAL PL PRIMER is a polyurethane-based, single-component, solvent-borne, waterproof, low-viscosity, adhesion-promoting aliphatic primer. Specially developed for various deck surfaces, it is suitable for use on wood surfaces such as teak, mahogany, Oregon pine, CLT and GRP, as well as aluminium, galvanised steel, concrete, gloss and glazed surfaces, and lightly porous marble, ceramic and granite surfaces. Thanks to its solvent-based polyurethane composition, it sets quickly, offers excellent chemical resistance and high bond strength. Its hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties and UV resistance provide long-lasting protection without yellowing. It can be easily applied by roller, trowel or zero-notch trowel; its ready-to-use single-component formulation offers a practical solution.

Application Areas

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The substrate surfaces to be coated must be sound, clean, dry and free from all foreign matter such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface curing compounds. The moisture content of the surface must be a maximum of 4% and the substrate temperature a minimum of +8°C. Ensure that the substrate temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point.

  2. 2

    Ensuring Application Conditions

Materials should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions. In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20/+25°C until ready for use. Ambient and surface temperature must be between +10°C and +25°C, and relative humidity a maximum of 80%.

  3. 3

    Mixing

PURSEAL PL PRIMER is single-component and therefore ready to use; no mixing is required.

  4. 4

    Application

PURSEAL PL PRIMER should be applied by roller, trowel or zero-notch trowel. Ensure that the application covers the entire surface without voids. After applying PURSEAL PL PRIMER, 24 hours must be allowed before applying any further coating.

  5. 5

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

After application, tools and equipment used should be cleaned with solvent or polyurethane thinner. Once the product has cured, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

Critical

The temperature of the surface to be applied, the material and the ambient temperature must be between +10°C and +25°C.

Critical

The substrate temperature must be a minimum of +8°C. Ensure that the substrate temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point.

Critical

Moisture content of the surface must be below 4%. There must be no rising moisture according to ASTM. Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%.

Critical

After application of PURSEAL PL PRIMER, 24 hours must be allowed before applying any further coating.

Critical

After completion of application, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. In the event of water contact, all properties of the coating will be compromised and the coating must be completely removed and reapplied.

Critical

Beware of dew and condensation! Dew formation and water vapour condensation on uncoated or freshly coated surfaces will damage the coating.

Important

The product must not be thinned.

Important

Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions. In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20/+25°C until ready for use.

Important

Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from reaching the surface while the coating is still fresh.

Important

The product should be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, away from direct sunlight, protected from frost, at between +5°C and +30°C. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be adequately ventilated. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

Consumption figures are given for ideal conditions assuming an ambient and surface temperature of 20°C. Actual consumption may vary depending on surface texture and ambient temperature.

Information

The above technical values are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
