Product Description
FOX P-CURE FR515 is a paraffin emulsion-based curing compound applied to freshly placed and/or freshly demoulded concrete surfaces. The film layer it forms retains water within the concrete, ensuring optimum strength development; it is solvent-free and prevents rapid drying, thereby reducing shrinkage. It complies with ASTM C 309 Type 1 Class A. The product is applied by spraying or roller to screeded surfaces of site, road and floor concretes, and to the surfaces of formed concrete that have lost their sheen after formwork removal. Average consumption is 0.15–0.20 kg/m²; under exposed, hot or windy conditions this value may be increased to 0.30 kg/m².
Key Benefits
- Retains moisture within the concrete to support full cement hydration, increasing final strength.
- Reduces shrinkage cracking caused by rapid evaporation, preserving surface integrity.
- Solvent-free formulation allows safe application in enclosed areas.
- Requires less labour and cost compared to traditional curing methods such as hessian, burlap and water curing.
- Easy application by spray or roller, forming a homogeneous film on the surface.
- Provides a dust-free surface, improving concrete quality and longevity.
Advantages
- Retains moisture within the concrete through the film layer it forms, helping the cement to hydrate more effectively.
- As an alternative to similar curing methods such as hessian, burlap and water curing, it is a more efficient and more economical method.
- Reduces shrinkage cracking on the surface caused by rapid drying.
- Provides a dust-free surface.
- Suitable for use in enclosed areas.
- Easy to apply, reducing labour costs.
- FOX P-CURE FR515 is solvent-free.
Usage Areas
- Airport and site concretes
- Concrete road applications
- Concretes for bridges and high-rise buildings
- Canal and culvert concretes
- Concrete pours in locations with low humidity, high evaporation and strong air currents
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
FOX P-CURE FR515 is applied to screeded surfaces of site, road and floor concretes, and to the surfaces of formed concrete that have lost their sheen after formwork removal.
- 2
Application
FOX P-CURE FR515 should be applied uniformly to freshly poured concrete by spraying or roller. Spraying is recommended to achieve a uniform structure. When applying by roller, a thin coat is preferred and ponding must not be allowed.
- 3
Cleaning of Application Tools
After application, the tools used should be cleaned with warm water.
Application by spraying is recommended in order to achieve a uniform structure.
The effective duration of applied FOX P-CURE FR515 may vary depending on film thickness, weather conditions, degree of UV exposure and the condition of the concrete surface.
When a coating is to be applied over a cured surface, the curing compound must be removed from the surface using hot water, a brush or a water jet.
Applying a thin coat by roller prevents foam formation. After waiting for any bubbles formed during thick applications to subside, the surface should be re-rolled. Distribute the material evenly and do not allow ponding.
Homogeneous application is important to prevent localised colour variations.
Application temperature must not fall below +5°C.
When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened containers may be resealed and reused.
Store in the original unopened container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 2 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.
Wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
