Product Description

FOX SILAN WB FR808 is a silane-siloxane based, water-based, hydrophobic, transparent impregnation material. It imparts water-repellent properties to the applied surface without altering its appearance and without forming a film layer. Thanks to its low molecular weight, it achieves high penetration into the substrate, rendering structural elements impermeable and protecting them against atmospheric effects. It can be used on exterior facade coatings, terrazzo coatings, and both low-absorption and high-absorption surfaces such as concrete, marble, granite, slate, brick, coloured concrete blocks, aerated concrete, travertine and tuff stone. Also preferred for the preservation of historic structures, the product is resistant to alkalis and UV radiation, and its vapour-permeable structure allows the surface to breathe. Its ready-to-use formulation offers practical application.

Key Benefits

  • Provides long-lasting water repellency without altering the surface appearance or forming a film layer.
  • Protects the surface in depth with high penetration capacity; does not peel like a surface coating.
  • Wide surface compatibility: suitable for concrete, marble, granite, brick, aerated concrete and historic stone surfaces.
  • Its vapour-permeable structure does not impede the surface from breathing, preventing moisture accumulation.
  • Resistance to alkalis and UV radiation, with protection against freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Water-based, ready-to-use formulation enables practical and fast application.

Advantages

  • Achieves high penetration into the substrate thanks to its low molecular weight.
  • Protects exterior facade coatings without altering their appearance or forming a film layer.
  • Renders the surfaces of structural elements impermeable, reducing the adverse effects of atmospheric exposure.
  • Resistant to alkalis and UV radiation.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw effects.
  • Vapour permeable.
  • Ready to use.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Before application, all dust, dirt, grease and loose particles that would reduce adhesion must be removed from the surface. Lime, mortar, algae, fungi and similar contaminants must be cleaned using FOX CLEANER BLUE FR330 or by mechanical methods.

  2. 2

    Ensuring Application Conditions

The surface, material and ambient temperature must be between +10°C and +30°C. Moisture at 2 cm concrete depth must be below 4%, and relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%. There must be no rising damp. For freshly cast concrete, a minimum curing period of 28 days must be observed.

  3. 3

    1st Coat Application

FOX SILAN WB FR808 must be applied to dry surfaces using a suitable roller, brush or spray machine to achieve maximum penetration. The 1st coat is applied with product diluted 1/10, at a consumption rate of approximately 0.25 kg/m².

  4. 4

    2nd Coat Application

The 2nd coat must be applied consecutively using the 'wet-on-wet' technique. Applied with product diluted 1/10, at a consumption rate of approximately 0.20 kg/m². On highly absorbent surfaces, one additional coat may be required.

Critical

When applying to freshly cast concrete, the concrete must have completed a minimum curing period of 28 days.

Critical

The temperature of the surface to be treated, the material and the ambient environment must be between +10°C and +30°C.

Critical

The moisture content at 2 cm concrete depth must be below 4%. Test methods: C-Aquameter, CM-Device, Darr Method.

Critical

There must be no rising damp according to ASTM (polyethylene sheet test).

Important

Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%.

Critical

Beware of dew point and condensation! Dew formation and water vapour condensation on uncoated or freshly coated surfaces will damage the coating. To prevent this, the substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point.

Important

For the first coat, application must be made to dry surfaces to achieve maximum penetration. The second coat must be applied consecutively using the 'wet-on-wet' technique.

Important

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened containers must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high and apply a first-in, first-out dispatch system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, seek medical attention immediately. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
