Product Description
FOX ADFREEZE FM101 is a set-accelerating / plasticising antifreeze concrete admixture based on polynaphthalene sulphonate and nitrate salt, designed for cold climate conditions. It accelerates the setting of concrete and increases its strength by speeding up the reaction between water and cement at the start of setting. The product shortens initial and final setting times compared to plain concrete, provides early strength gain especially in cold weather, and protects against frost damage. It is chloride-free. Complies with TS EN 934-2:2013 Table 6 (Set-Accelerating Concrete Admixture) standard. Compatible with all cement types and mineral additions such as microsilica, fly ash, and slag.
Advantages
- Shortens initial and final setting times of concrete compared to plain concrete.
- Provides early strength gain especially in cold weather, protecting concrete against frost damage.
- Chloride-free.
Usage Areas
- In the production of ready-mixed concrete with or without pumping
- In cold weather conditions where protection against frost and early high strength gain are required
- In precast and prestressed concrete casting
- In the production of all types of reinforced or unreinforced, lightweight or normal-weight concrete
Application Steps
- 1
Mixing the Materials
The binder (cement, microsilica, fly ash, slag, etc.) and aggregates should be mixed until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- 2
Addition of the Admixture
After 50–70% of the mixing water has been added, FOX ADFREEZE FM101 and any plasticiser to be used should be added to the mix together with the remaining water.
- 3
Achieving Homogeneous Distribution
To ensure homogeneous distribution of FOX ADFREEZE FM101 within the mix, mixing should be carried out for preferably 60 seconds or for the duration determined by laboratory tests.
- 4
Dosage Determination
When used alone, a dosage of 2.5–5.0 kg per 100 kg of binder is recommended. When used in combination with another plasticiser, 1.0–2.0 kg per 100 kg of binder may be used depending on the type and dosage of the other plasticiser. The exact dosage must be determined by laboratory tests.

Curing
In environments with high temperatures and strong air currents, suitable curing compounds such as FOX PL-CURE FR811, FOX HYDROCURE FR761, or FOX ACURE FR570 should be selected and used to prevent evaporation of the mixing water from the concrete.
It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flame; these areas must be adequately ventilated.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.
During storage and application, the product must not be allowed to contact skin or eyes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
If the product freezes, it should be thawed at room temperature without the use of direct heat and mixed mechanically until homogeneous. Compressed air must not be used during mixing.
Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost, between +5°C and +30°C.
Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture under correct storage conditions. Opened packages can be resealed and used within the shelf life.
For short-term storage, pallets must not be stacked more than 3 high and a first-in, first-out system must be applied. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.
The dosage must be determined by preliminary laboratory tests according to the concrete class and its properties.
The values in the technical specifications are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
