Product Description
FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 is a modified polymer dispersion-based, single-component, ready-to-use primer material. It has been developed to reduce the absorption capacity of absorbent surfaces where plaster coating will be applied, thereby preventing the burning of plaster. It is effectively used on highly absorbent surfaces such as pumice, aerated concrete, brick, and plasterboard. It is also preferred as a bonding coat before repair mortar application on exposed concrete surfaces, and as a primer before FOX PURMAX® WB 1K and FOX WATERPROF® FS100 applications. Being solvent-free, it provides a safe application environment; its yellow colour makes it easily distinguishable on the applied surface.
Key Benefits
- Its ready-to-use formula requires no preparation time on site and can be applied directly.
- Its solvent-free composition allows safe use in interior spaces.
- Reduces the absorption capacity of the surface, preventing plaster burn and minimising material waste.
- The distinctive yellow colour on the applied surface makes coverage control easier.
- Offers easy application by brush or roller; tool cleaning is done with water.
- Can be used on a wide range of surfaces such as pumice, aerated concrete, brick, and plasterboard.
Advantages
- Ready to use.
- Easy to apply.
- Solvent-free.
- Provides excellent adhesion to the applied surface.
- Easy to inspect thanks to its yellow colour; clearly visible on the applied surface.
Usage Areas
- On interior surfaces where plaster coating will be applied
- For priming highly absorbent plasterboards
- On pumice, aerated concrete, brick, and similar surfaces
- On walls and floors
- As a bonding coat before repair mortar application on exposed concrete surfaces
- As a primer before FOX PURMAX® WB 1K and FOX WATERPROF® FS100 applications
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The application surface must be sound, dry, dust-free, and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust, and paraffin residues that could weaken adhesion, and there must be no loose particles on the surface. Care must be taken to ensure the substrate is dry.
- 2
Mixing
FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 must be thoroughly mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.
- 3
Dilution with Water
Depending on the surface type and absorbency, dilute by adding water at a ratio of 1/1 to 1/3 (product/water).
- 4
Application
Once mixing is complete, FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 is applied uniformly to the surface by brush or roller. Ponding on the surface must not be allowed. The thickness per coat must not exceed 200 microns. When the primer dries, a light yellow film layer is obtained. Subsequent applications over FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 can be carried out after approximately at least 6 hours.
- 5
Tool Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
If the substrate temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; suitable temperatures must be awaited.
The product is sensitive to frost. It must not be stored or transported below 0°C.
Any subsequent applications over FOX STUCPRIMER FL888 must be carried out after waiting at least 6 hours.
For the material to cure fully, the substrate and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
For outdoor applications, the product must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind, and frost for the first 24 hours. Contamination of the primer during and after application must be prevented.
The thickness per coat must not exceed 200 microns. Ponding on the surface must not be allowed.
Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
Pallets must never be stacked on top of one another during storage. Shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
The VOC content of this product (category IIA/g type wb) EU limit value max. 30 g/l (2010). This product contains <30 g/l VOC.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. Areas must be ventilated.
