Product Description

FOX CHANTIER FB12 is an acrylic copolymer emulsion-based, high-opacity, matt-finish elastic topcoat interior wall paint. Thanks to its water-based formulation, the product is odourless and flexible, and can be easily applied to mineral surfaces such as interior plaster and concrete. Its high density (1.56±0.05 kg/lt) and 60% solid content provide strong coverage. With a touch-dry time of 15±5 minutes and a surface-dry time of 60±5 minutes, the product offers a practical application process with a recoat interval of 4–6 hours. FOX CHANTIER FB12, with a service temperature between +5°C and +30°C, provides a durable interior wall coating with resistance to blistering and peeling in humid environments.

Usage Areas

  • Interior plaster surfaces
  • Interior concrete surfaces

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The application surface must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. It must be free of loose particles and residues of oil, grease, rust and paraffin. Uneven surfaces should be filled with FOX SILK MORTAR FC125. Freshly plastered surfaces (lime-free, made with FOX MIXPLUS FM201 or FOX BINDER FM125) and reinforced concrete surfaces must have completed a 28-day curing period.

  2. 2

    Mixing

FOX CHANTIER FB12 must be thoroughly mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.

  3. 3

    Thinning

A maximum of 10% water may be added to FOX CHANTIER FB12. For large-area projects, all products must be thinned at the same ratio to avoid shade differences.

  4. 4

    Application on Gypsum Plaster Surfaces

Since gypsum plaster is a dusty and absorbent material, FOX DECODUR PRIMER primer must be applied before proceeding with paint and filler application. After a minimum of 12 hours, FOX CHANTIER FB12 can be applied in at least two coats.

  5. 5

    Application on Raw Plastered Surfaces

Before proceeding with paint application, adhesive tape should be pressed firmly onto the surface and then pulled off; if dense sand particles remain on the tape, the surface has a loose texture and must be sanded with abrasive mosaic stones. After sanding, one coat (two coats if necessary) of FOX DECODUR PRIMER primer is applied, followed by at least two coats of FOX CHANTIER FB12.

  6. 6

Application on Water-Based Previously Painted and Filled Surfaces

If plaster is to be applied over old paint, the surface must be scored densely. Once the substrate preparation is complete and if the old paint is glossy, it should be sanded and dusted with a damp cloth, then one coat of FOX DECODUR PRIMER primer is applied. After priming, at least two coats of FOX CHANTIER FB12 can be applied.

  7. 7

Application on Solvent-Based Previously Painted Surfaces

Once the substrate preparation is complete and the surface has been sanded and dusted with a damp cloth, one coat of FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 is applied. After priming, at least two coats of FOX CHANTIER FB12 can be applied.

  8. 8

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

Tools and equipment used during application must be cleaned with water after use. Once FOX CHANTIER FB12 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

Application temperature must not fall below +5°C. FOX CHANTIER FB12 freezes at temperatures below 0°C.

Critical

The application surface must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. It must be free of loose particles and residues of oil, grease, rust and paraffin.

Critical

Freshly plastered and reinforced concrete surfaces must have completed a 28-day curing period.

Critical

A minimum recoat interval of 4–6 hours must be observed between coats.

Important
