  • On interior wall and ceiling surfaces
  • In living areas such as living rooms and bedrooms

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The surface to be painted must be free of loose particles and all residues that could reduce adhesion, such as oil, grease and dirt. The surface may be damp or dry. If there are flaking areas on previously painted surfaces, they should be repaired using a repair mortar such as FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 or FOX BASEMOR FC205.

  2. 2

    Priming

On old mineral plasters and concrete: lightly absorbent, smooth surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER; porous, absorbent and slightly sandy surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220. On old matt coatings: moderately absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX DECODUR PRIMER diluted with a maximum of 3% water; porous and absorbent surfaces should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water. Glossy surfaces should be mechanically abraded if necessary and primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555. Mouldy, damp and heavily soiled surfaces should be primed with FOX INOVA MS BARRIER. Plastered surfaces and surfaces after wallpaper has been stripped should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220 diluted 1:1 with water.

  3. 3

    Mixing

FOX INOVA CLASSIC should be mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm before use.

  4. 4

    Dilution

FOX INOVA CLASSIC may be thinned by adding a maximum of 5% water.

  5. 5

    Application

At least 6 hours after priming the surface, FOX INOVA CLASSIC is applied with a suitable roller or spray machine. A brush is recommended for painting corners and edges. After the first coat has dried (minimum 6 hours), a second coat is applied using the same method.

  6. 6

    Tool Cleaning

After application, all tools and equipment used should be cleaned with water.

Critical

Application and storage temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Application should not be carried out in very hot or very cold conditions.

Critical

For new cement-plastered or bare concrete surfaces being painted for the first time, the earliest application should be made after 28 days.

Critical

During and after application, the surface must be protected from all external influences such as rain, water and mechanical impact for 24 hours.

Critical

To prevent lap marks, application must be carried out wet-on-wet in a single continuous pass.

Critical

Paint must never be applied directly over wallpaper. Wallpaper must be completely stripped from the surface.

Critical

The dilution ratios stated on the product label must be observed; a maximum of 5% water may be added. Over-thinning the product causes hiding power loss, roller marks and surface undulation.

Important

Insufficient thinning of the product leads to the risk of thick application; cracking may occur in paint applied too thickly.

Critical

No powder or liquid additives should be added to the paint.

Important

No paint should be applied to dirty or damp surfaces; the surface must be prepared according to the type of paint to be applied.

Important

Packaging lids must always be closed when work is interrupted during the day.

Important

During paint application, cut-ins at doors, windows and ceiling-wall junctions should be done first, then roller application should continue without interruption.

Important

When cleaning stains on walls, the entire wall surface — not just the stained area — must be wiped; cleaning only the stained section may result in localised sheen differences on the surface.

Important

Rooms where application is carried out must be well ventilated. A mask, gloves and protective goggles must be worn during application.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames.

Critical

The product must not come into contact with skin or eyes; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Must be stored out of reach of children.

Important

In its unopened packaging, the product can be stored for 12 months in a cool, dry place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
