Product Description

FOX AQUAROOF SR is a ready-to-use, fibre-reinforced, modified elastomeric resin-based waterproofing material. According to ASTM E1980, the product has a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 107, a solar reflectance (SR) of 85%, and an emittance value of 91%; it significantly reduces solar heat absorption on roof and terrace surfaces, lowering the building's interior temperature and providing energy savings. It meets the requirements of Principles 2.2 and 8.2 under EN 1504-2:2004 (SRI test report reference no: ETR-22-0612). With a Shore A hardness of 75 and an elongation at break of ≥900%, its high flexibility ensures excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces. Thanks to its water-based formula, FOX AQUAROOF SR is easy to apply and can be applied as a single-component product by roller or spray.

Advantages

  • Due to its high SRI (Solar Reflective Index) value, it reflects far more solar radiation than a dark-coloured coating, reducing the solar heat absorption of the roof/terrace surface.
  • Helps earn LEED credits by reducing the heat island effect on roofs.
  • Lowers the building's interior temperature and provides energy savings.
  • Water-based.
  • High resistance to soiling.
  • UV resistant.
  • Maintains continuous elasticity and adapts to different surfaces.
  • Provides high adhesion.
  • Single-component; easily applied by roller.
  • Creates no seams or joints.

Usage Areas

  • In outdoor settings, for horizontal and vertical applications
  • On large-span reinforced concrete terraces
  • On sloped terrace roofs
  • Over existing slate-chip membranes, ceramic, and metal roof coverings

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be treated must be sound, free from any oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint, and bitumen residues that could impair adhesion, with all loose particles removed and dry. Surface defects on uneven concrete surfaces should be repaired using FOX MORTAR FC188 T or FOX BASEMOR FC205 repair mortars. FOX TRIPLETAPE 120 chamfer tape should be applied to corner joints. For applications over slate-chip membranes, lifted areas must be repaired and loose sand particles removed from the surface.

  2. 2

    Mixing

FOX AQUAROOF SR is ready to use; however, it is recommended to stir it once before use.

  3. 3

    Priming – Concrete Surfaces

A primer prepared by adding 10% water to FOX AQUAROOF SR should be applied by roller or spray.

  4. 4

Priming – Smooth Surfaces Such as Metal and Ceramic

Surfaces must be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 before applying FOX AQUAROOF SR.

  5. 5

    Application

Approximately 5–6 hours after the primer coat (drying condition must be checked), FOX AQUAROOF SR should be applied in 2 coats by roller or spray. The approximate waiting time between coats is 8 hours.

  6. 6

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

After application, tools and equipment used should be cleaned with water. Once FOX AQUAROOF SR has cured, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

The applied material must be protected from frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

Do not apply if there is a risk of rain or if there is dew on the substrate.

Critical

Must not be applied to wet or damp surfaces.

Critical

Drying times between coats must be observed.

Important

Resistant to light pedestrian traffic; must not be used in areas with heavy traffic.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. FOX AQUAROOF SR freezes at temperatures below 0°C.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Pallets must never be stacked on top of each other during storage. Shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes during storage and application; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
