Product Description
FOX MULTISEAL®-UV FS475 is a cement and acrylic based, two-component, UV resistant flexible waterproofing material that forms an effective barrier against water-borne salts and atmospheric gases. It meets the requirements of TS EN 1504-2:2008 Principle 2.2 and 8.2. Component A consists of mineral fillers, special cement and polymer; Component B consists of copolymer acrylic dispersion. Adhesion strength according to EN 1542 is ≥0.8 N/mm². The mixture is prepared at a ratio of 25 kg A + 8 kg B and offers a working time of 2 hours. At +23°C, mechanical strength is achieved in 3 days, water impermeability in 7 days and full strength in 28 days. Applied by brush or spray machine.
Key Benefits
- Thanks to its UV resistance, it provides long-lasting protection in exterior facade and terrace applications.
- With its excellent adhesion properties, it can be safely applied to reinforced concrete, precast concrete and wet area surfaces.
- The long working time of two hours allows uninterrupted application over large areas.
- Its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and atmospheric carbon dioxide and chlorine ensures performance in harsh climatic conditions.
- The ability to apply by brush or spray machine provides flexibility for different site conditions.
- Its resistance to light pedestrian traffic on terraces allows ease of use without requiring an additional protective layer.
Advantages
- Resistant to UV radiation.
- Excellent adhesion properties.
- Easy to prepare and apply.
- Can be applied by brush or spray machine.
- Long working time.
- Resistant to light pedestrian traffic on terraces.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
- Resistant to carbon dioxide and chlorine in atmospheric conditions.
Usage Areas
- In interior and exterior spaces, on vertical and horizontal surfaces from the positive side
- For waterproofing of precast concrete channels and gutters
- On terraces, can be left exposed under light load
- For foundation waterproofing from the positive side
- On retaining walls
- In wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and balconies
- In swimming pools
- In drinking water and utility water tanks
- In seawater channels
- Where waterproofing and protection against saline water is required
- For protection of concrete surfaces against carbonation and chloride attack
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be applied must be sound and free from all oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint and bitumen residues that could impair adhesion, with all loose particles removed. Iron and wooden plugs on the surface must be removed, and any active water leaks must be plugged with FOX PLUG FC340. Existing voids, uneven surfaces and corner edges (chamfer of at least 4 cm) must be repaired with FOX MORTAR FC188 T repair mortar. If the surface is dry before application, it must be dampened. In hot or windy conditions, water up to 10% of Component B may be added to the mixed material for the first coat only.
- 2
Mixing
Half of FOX MULTISEAL®-UV FS475 Component B is poured into a clean mixing container. Component A is slowly added while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm with a suitable attachment for approximately 3–5 minutes. The mixture, which reaches a paste consistency, is left to rest for 2 minutes, then the remaining Component B is added and mixed for a further 1–2 minutes until ready for application. Mixing ratio: 25 kg A + 8 kg B.
- 3
Application
The prepared FOX MULTISEAL®-UV FS475 mixture is applied in a minimum of two coats using a waterproofing brush or spray machine. The direction of brush application for each coat must be perpendicular to the previous one. The waiting time between coats varies depending on ambient conditions. Reinforced concrete surfaces must be dampened before application. The wet film thickness must not exceed 1.30 mm per coat.
- 4
Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water.
Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited. Application should also not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.
For exterior surface applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.
The wet film thickness in application must not exceed 1.30 mm per coat.
For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
FOX MULTISEAL®-UV FS475 applied at +23°C achieves mechanical strength after 3 days, becomes water impermeable after 7 days and reaches its final strength after 28 days.
The working and reaction times of cement and acrylic based systems are affected by the ambient and substrate temperature and the relative humidity of the air. At low temperatures the reaction slows down; high temperatures accelerate the reaction.
Areas that need to be walked on should be covered with a screed containing FOX BINDER FM125 additive.
For covering with ceramic, marble and similar products, the use of INNO-FIX series ceramic adhesives is recommended.
FOX MULTISEAL®-UV FS475 Component B freezes at temperatures below 0°C. Opened packages must be stored under appropriate storage conditions with their lids tightly closed.
Should be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked on top of each other; for long-term storage, pallets should not be stacked.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
The above technical values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. High temperatures shorten the time, low temperatures extend the time.
