Product Description
FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 is a hybrid polyurea-based, two-component, solvent-free, fast-curing waterproofing membrane with crack-bridging capability that does not lose its flexibility over time. Thanks to its unique chemical structure, it can be applied in virtually all climatic conditions. It offers seamless, single-layer application with no joints or lap details required. Its application speed and rapid curing properties minimise downtime compared to conventional waterproofing products. Due to its very fast reaction time, it is applied using specialised spray machines. It meets the requirements of TS EN 1504-2 / Principles 1.3, 2.2, 5.1, 8.2. As UV resistance is limited, it must be used in conjunction with FOX PURMAX® POLYUREA TOPCOAT or FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT on exterior surfaces and surfaces exposed to UV radiation.
Advantages
- Cures within seconds, walkable within minutes.
- Can be applied on horizontal and vertical surfaces.
- Provides easy solutions in difficult details.
- Provides seamless application; no joints or lap details.
- Provides excellent adhesion.
- Has excellent chemical resistance.
- Has excellent mechanical resistance.
- Has high puncture resistance.
- Flexible and resistant to abrasion.
- Has crack-bridging capability.
- Adheres excellently to almost all surfaces (concrete, steel, aluminium, fibre, wood, foam, etc.).
- Has hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties.
- Impermeable to liquids; can be used in continuous contact with water.
- Has excellent thermal resistance; the product never re-softens and retains its elasticity at low temperatures.
Usage Areas
- On terraces exposed to UV and solar radiation (together with FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT or FOX PURMAX® POLYUREA TOPCOAT)
- On terraces, balconies and all wet areas
- On roofs and garden terraces
- In swimming pools and ornamental ponds
- In aircraft hangars

- In steel structures
- On wide-span terraces
- In roof gutters
- In planter box waterproofing
- In positive-side waterproofing of foundations and retaining walls
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation – Concrete
Oil, grease, fuel and paraffin residues must be removed; the surface must be completely free of release agents, cement residues, dust, loose particles and cured membranes. Surface defects must be repaired with FOX EPOMORTAR FC510 or the FOX EPOMORTAR series epoxy repair mortar. Surface cracks must be filled with FOX PURSEAL PS600 polyurethane mastic. An appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primer must then be applied.
- 2
Surface Preparation – Asphalt
The asphalt surface must be cleaned with a water jet. For applications subject to vehicle traffic, the load-bearing capacity of the asphalt must be suitable for the loads in use. The asphalt surface must be shot-blasted to expose at least 60% of the aggregates and appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primers must be applied.
- 3
Surface Preparation – Bitumen
Loose parts on the bitumen surface must be removed, blisters must be opened and dried. Main cracks must be opened, repaired and taped over. Appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primers must then be applied.
- 4
Surface Preparation – Plywood / OSB
Ensure that the panels are correctly installed, all joints must be cleaned and taped with appropriate tape. Appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primers must then be applied.
- 5
Surface Preparation – Iron/Steel
Must be shot-blasted to SA 2.5 quality prior to primer application, followed by appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primers.
- 6
Priming
All surfaces to receive FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 must be pre-primed with an appropriate FOX EPOTHANE® series primer. Care must be taken to ensure the substrate temperature is a minimum of +5°C. The Primer Selection Table must be used as the basis for primer selection according to surface condition.
- 7
Coating – Spray Application
FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 must be applied by certified expert applicators using specialised spray machines, as certified by FOX BAU PROFESSIONAL® Technical Service. Under normal conditions, a consumption of 2.0–2.5 kg/m² yields a thickness of approximately 2.0–2.5 mm.
- 8
Topcoat (UV Protection)
FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 does not have sufficient UV resistance. On surfaces exposed to UV radiation, FOX PURMAX® POLYUREA TOPCOAT or FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT products must be applied using a roller or airless spray machine.
- 9
Tool and Equipment Cleaning
Tools and equipment must be cleaned with solvent immediately after application. Once FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 has cured, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.
Concrete surfaces to be coated with polyurea must be at least 3 weeks old prior to application.
Surface and ambient temperature must be a minimum of +5°C and a maximum of +30°C. Application must not be carried out outside this range.
Substrate moisture content must be a maximum of 4%. There must be no rising moisture according to ASTM (polyethylene sheet test).
Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 90%.
Components A and B are ready-to-use products. No solvent or any other substance must be added during application.
FOX PURMAX® SPRAYTEC FS561 does not have sufficient UV resistance. On surfaces exposed to UV radiation, it must be overcoated with FOX PURMAX® POLYUREA TOPCOAT or FOX PURMAX® TOPCOAT.
System applications must be carried out by Certified Expert Applicator Dealers certified by FOX BAU PROFESSIONAL® Technical Service.
For slabs on grade, a vapour barrier layer must be installed and the building's roof, walls, doors and windows must be completed.
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the area while the coating is fresh.
Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be stored under appropriate conditions and used within 1 week.
Store between +15°C and +25°C, away from direct sunlight. Protect from frost.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. The area must be ventilated.
Wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. The product must be stored out of reach of children.
Consumption values are given for ideal conditions at a surface temperature of 20°C. Consumption may increase on damaged or porous surfaces.
Technical property values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend it.
