Product Description

FOX CARBOND® FIBER 312 is a unidirectional carbon fibre fabric developed for structural strengthening projects. With a Carbon Fibre 12K structure, the fabric delivers outstanding mechanical performance with a unit weight of 300 g/m², a thickness of 0.166 mm, and an elastic modulus of 250 GPa. The tensile strength of the carbon fibre is 4900 MPa and its density is 1.80 g/cm³. Its unidirectional continuous fibre structure provides ease of design and application in flexural and shear strengthening. The fabric is available in two width options: 50 cm and 100 cm. It is applied by laminating with FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

    Surfaces to be repaired must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues that could impair adhesion. Surface defects must be repaired with structural repair mortars. The application surface must be primed with FOX CARBOND® PRIMER. Prior to application, the carbon fibre fabric must be cut to the dimensions specified in the project.

    Application of the First Adhesive Layer

    One coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied to the surface.

    Placement of the Carbon Fibre Fabric

    FOX CARBOND® FIBER 312 must be placed on the adhesive-coated surface under tension in the direction of the fibres, and pressed with a roller in the direction of the fibres to allow the adhesive to be absorbed into the fabric and to remove air voids.

  4. 4

    Application of the Second Adhesive Layer

    The second coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied to the surface of the carbon fibre fabric with a roller, ensuring that the fabric is laminated between the two adhesive layers.

  5. 5

    Multi-Layer Application

    In multi-layer applications, FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied with a roller between each layer, and the carbon fibre fabric must be pressed with a roller to laminate it within the adhesive.

  6. 6

    Preparation of Surfaces to be Plastered

    To allow plastering over the system, after the final layer of FOX CARBOND® FIBER 312 has been applied, while the FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is still wet, sand must be scattered onto the surfaces to be plastered to create a rough texture that will facilitate plaster adhesion.

    Tool Cleaning

    Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with solvent.

Only prepare as much material as can be used within the working time.

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.

Information

When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture.

Information

Technical values are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
