Product Description
FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is an epoxy-based, two-component, high-strength carbon fibre fabric adhesive with lamination properties, specially developed for structural strengthening systems. Component A consists of epoxy resin and Component B of epoxy hardener; the product is used to bond carbon fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) fabrics to the surfaces of structural elements to be strengthened. With a density of 1.02 gr/cm³, it achieves a compressive strength of over 60 N/mm² and an adhesion strength to concrete of over 4 N/mm² within 7 days. It must be applied by specialist applicators at ambient and substrate temperatures between +5°C and +30°C.

Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be strengthened must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. All traces of oil, grease, rust and paraffin that could impair surface adhesion must be thoroughly removed. Surface defects must be repaired with structural repair mortars, and the surface must be primed with FOX CARBOND® PRIMER.

Mixing
Before mixing, ensure that the product temperatures are between +5°C and +30°C. Mix Component A of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE with a suitable mixer for 30 seconds without entraining air. Then pour Component B onto Component A. Mix continuously for 2 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

Application
Application of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must commence within 24 hours following the application of FOX CARBOND® PRIMER. Apply the material to the primed surfaces using a roller to achieve a thickness of 0.8–1 mm. While the material is still wet, FOX CARBOND® FIBER (carbon fibre fabrics) cut to the appropriate dimensions must be stretched in the direction of the fibres and bonded to the surface. Then, using a roller, press along the direction of the fibres to ensure that FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is fully impregnated into the fabric and that no voids remain between the fabric and the surface. The second coat of adhesive should also be applied by roller over the carbon fibre fabric already bonded to the surface, in the direction of the fibres. For multi-layer carbon fibre applications, approximately 0.9 kg/m² of adhesive should be used between layers.

UV and Fire Protection
In areas exposed to sunlight, the material must be overcoated with suitable UV-resistant products within 7 days of application. Where fire resistance is required, the surface must be covered with special fire-resistant mortars at an appropriate thickness.

Plaster Preparation
To allow plastering over the system, after the final layer of FOX CARBOND® FIBER carbon fibre fabric has been applied and while FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is still wet, coarse sand should be broadcast onto the surfaces to be plastered to create a rough texture that will facilitate plaster adhesion.

Tool and Equipment Cleaning
Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with solvent after application. Once FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE has cured, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.
FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must not be applied at temperatures below +5°C or above +30°C.
FOX CARBOND® structural strengthening systems must be applied by specialist applicators.
Solvents or similar thinners must not be added to the mixture during application.
Mixing must be carried out exclusively with suitable mechanical mixers. Hand mixing must not be used.
Application of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must commence within 24 hours following the application of FOX CARBOND® PRIMER.
Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
In cold weather applications, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised; packaging should be conditioned at +20°C – 25°C to improve workability of the products.
Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from coming into contact with the coating while it is still fresh.
In resin-based systems, pot life and curing times are affected by ambient temperature, substrate temperature and air humidity. At lower temperatures curing slows down, extending pot life, overcoating time and working time.
Care should be taken to prepare only as much material as can be used within the working time.
In areas exposed to sunlight, the material must be overcoated with suitable UV-resistant products within 7 days of application.
When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous. Storage and application areas must be adequately ventilated.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided during storage and application. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
Technical values are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
