Product Description

FOX CARBOND® FIBER 6012 is a carbon fibre woven fabric developed for structural strengthening projects. With a 12K carbon fibre construction, the product offers high mechanical performance with a tensile strength of 4900 MPa and an elastic modulus of 250 GPa, while remaining lightweight at 600 g/m². Its thickness of 0.334 mm and density of 1.80 g/cm³ make it easy to handle and apply. It covers a wide range of applications, from flexural and shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams to column wrapping. It is applied as a system together with FOX CARBOND® PRIMER and FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE. The roll size of 100x5000 cm ensures ease of application.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

    Surfaces to be repaired must be sound, dry, load-bearing, dust-free and clean. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned of all oil, grease, rust and paraffin residues that could impair adhesion. Surface defects must be repaired with structural repair mortars. The application surface must be primed with FOX CARBOND® PRIMER. Prior to application, the carbon fibre fabric must be cut to the dimensions specified in the project.

    Placement of the Fabric

    FOX CARBOND® FIBER 6012 must be placed under tension in the direction of the fibres onto a surface coated with one layer of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE, and pressed with a roller in the direction of the fibres to allow the adhesive to be absorbed into the fabric and to remove air voids.

    Second Coat Adhesive Application

    A second coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must then be applied to the surface of the carbon fibre fabric with a roller, ensuring lamination between the two coats of adhesive.

    Multi-Layer Application

    In multi-layer applications, FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE must be applied with a roller between each layer, and the carbon fibre fabric must be pressed with a roller to laminate it within the adhesive.

    Plaster Preparation (If Required)

    To allow plastering over the surface, after the final coat of FOX CARBOND® FIBER 6012 has been applied and while the FOX CARBOND® FIBER ADHESIVE is still wet, sand must be broadcast onto the surfaces to be plastered to create a rough texture that will facilitate plaster adhesion.

    Tool Cleaning

    Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with solvent.

Care should be taken to prepare only as much material as can be used within the working time.

During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high and dispatch on a first-in, first-out basis. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.

Information

When stored correctly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture.

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time; lower temperatures extend it.
