Product Description
FOX BETONAGE® POOL BC is a decorative coating material developed for pools, based on special cement reinforced with mineral fillers and polymer, applicable to horizontal and vertical surfaces. It delivers superior performance in environments with continuous water contact, such as swimming pools, spas, and ornamental pools. With 18 different colour options, it provides extensive aesthetic design freedom. The seamless surface achieved with two-coat application is resistant to UV radiation and water. Using it together with the FOX EPOTHANE® series or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 primer increases the adhesion strength to the surface. Optionally, it can be sealed with FOX DOMINO® AC SEALER FD796.
Advantages
- Suitable for interior and exterior use.
- Provides a continuous, seamless appearance to the surface.
- Can be applied to any surface and object.
- Resistant to UV radiation.
- Waterproof.
- Available in a variety of colour options.
Usage Areas
- Swimming Pools
- Spas
- Ornamental Pools
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
Concrete substrates to be coated must be opened to a porous surface by removing the cement laitance using abrasive equipment such as shot blasting, milling, or diamond grinding. Weak concrete fragments must be removed, small voids and holes must be fully opened, and the resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. The substrate must be sound (min. 25 N/mm² compressive strength, min. 1.5 N/mm² tensile strength), dry (max. 4% moisture content), and above +10°C; the substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point.
- 2
Priming (Horizontal Surface)
The surface must be primed to improve adhesion, reduce air bubbles, and prevent the mixing liquid from being absorbed by the surface. On horizontal surfaces, an appropriate primer from the FOX EPOTHANE® series or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 may be used depending on the surface characteristics.
- 3
Priming (Vertical Surface)
On vertical surfaces, FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 polymer dispersion-based adhesion-promoting primer is used. For other surface applications, please contact the technical department.
- 4
Mixing
Place the amount of polymer specified on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Add the colour pigment to the polymer and mix until homogeneous. Then slowly add the FOX BETONAGE® POOL BC powder and mix with an electric mixer at 600–1000 rpm for 3–4 minutes. Do not allow lumps to form at the bottom of the bucket. After waiting approximately 1 minute, mix for a further 1 minute and make ready for use.

1st Coat Application
Dampen the application surface. Pour the prepared homogeneous mixture onto the surface and spread it using a suitable trowel. Once the material has dried, sand the surface with 60/80 grit sandpaper. After sanding is complete, clean the dust with an electric vacuum and wipe with a damp cloth.

2nd Coat Application
Before starting the second coat, dampen the application surface so that no dry areas remain. Repeat all the steps from the 1st coat in the same manner. Optionally, after sanding, the surface can be sealed with FOX DOMINO® AC SEALER FD796.

Tool Cleaning
After application, the tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX BETONAGE® POOL BC has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +10°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.
The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying. Application should not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy, or windy weather.
To allow the material to fully cure, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
Materials to be used on the application area should be brought and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to the ambient conditions.
In applications carried out in extremely cold weather, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised using heaters; the materials to be used should be conditioned at +20°C – +25°C and made ready for application.
After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.
Opened packages must be consumed within 1 week by keeping them tightly closed.
Should be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost.
Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous; these areas must be ventilated.
During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.
During storage and application, contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
For detailed safety information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
