Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates to be coated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-porous surface. Weak concrete particles must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum cleaner.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Before application, the material must be thoroughly mixed until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

  3. 3

    Horizontal/Vertical Surface Priming – FOX PRIMERA® FL220

The surface must be primed to improve the adhesion of the coating material to the surface, reduce air bubbles and prevent the mixing liquid from being absorbed by the surface. FOX PRIMERA® FL220 is poured onto the cleaned surface and applied uniformly with a brush or roller. The application rate should be adjusted according to the condition of the surface; the consumption should be increased on surfaces with a high risk of adhesion. Ponding on the surface must not be allowed.

  4. 4

Surface Priming – FOX DECOPRIMER FL204

FOX DECOPRIMER FL204 is applied over FOX PRIMERA® FL220 using a suitable roller. To check readiness for coating, a masking tape is applied after approximately 4 hours; when the tape is removed, there must be no dust on the tape surface.

  5. 5

    Coating Application

Ready-to-use FOX SAGALASSOS STANDART is mixed for approximately 1 minute. The homogeneous mixture is poured onto the surface and spread using a suitable trowel. After the material has dried, the surface is sanded with 60/80 grit sandpaper. Once sanding is complete, dust is removed with a vacuum cleaner and the surface is wiped with a damp cloth. The same process is repeated for the 2nd coat.

  6. 6

    Cleaning of Tools

All tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water before the material dries.

Critical

If the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not be carried out; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application must not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or very windy weather.

Critical

For exterior applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Important

High temperatures accelerate hydration and working time is reduced accordingly. Low temperatures slow down hydration and extend working time.

Important

For the material to complete its curing, the floor and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes during storage and application. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
