Product Description

FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 is a flexible tile adhesive mortar with reduced slip, extended open time, and high bonding performance, composed of special cement, mineral fillers, and polymer additives. It meets the TS EN 12004-1:2017 C2TES1 classification; available in Grey and White colour options, it can be applied on horizontal and vertical surfaces in interior and exterior environments. With a service temperature range of -20°C to +80°C, the product is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles, vibrations, and substrate stresses caused by temperature differentials. Its reaction to fire classification is EN 13501-1 A2,s1-d0. It can also be used on underfloor-heated floors, swimming pools, hammams, and water tanks.

Advantages

  • Saves time and labour with its extended working time.
  • Does not slip on vertical applications.
  • Enables fast and easy application.
  • Has high bonding strength.
  • Flexible; unaffected by vibrations.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Does not shrink.

Application Areas

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation – Cement-Based Surfaces

Surfaces to be treated must be sound, free of dust and dirt, and level. Areas requiring repair must be repaired with INNO-CRETE series repair mortars at least 1 day in advance. If the surface temperature exceeds +25°C, the surface should be lightly dampened.

  2. 2

Surface Preparation – Other Surfaces (Aerated Concrete, Gypsum, Chipboard, etc.)

FOX PRIMERA® FL220 primer, diluted 1:1 with water, is applied to highly absorbent surfaces such as aerated concrete, gypsum plaster, chipboard, plasterboard, and lime plaster. Bonding may commence a minimum of 8 hours after primer application.

  3. 3

Surface Preparation – Wood-Based Panel Surfaces (OSB and Chipboards)

Wooden chipboards must contain a maximum of 10% moisture. Boards applied to floors must be at least 25 mm thick, and those applied to walls at least 19 mm thick. Boards must be screwed to the surface at 30 cm intervals; edge joints must be left at least 8 mm wide and filled with FOX PURSEAL PS600 (Polyurethane Mastic). In dry environments, they must be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 or FOX STUCPRIMER FL888.

  4. 4

    Mixing

The amount of water indicated on the packaging is placed in a clean mixing container. FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 is gradually added to the water and mixed with a drill mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 2–3 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. After maturing for 3–5 minutes, the material is mixed for a further 1 minute and is then ready for application. Mixing ratio: for Grey, 25 kg/bag with ~7.75±0.25 litres of water; for White, 25 kg/bag with ~8.25±0.25 litres of water.

  5. 5

    Application

A 1 mm layer of FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 is applied to the application surface using the flat side of the trowel. Within the open time (30 minutes), the material is spread over the area to be covered by drawing the notched side of the trowel in one direction to achieve a uniform thickness. It is also recommended to apply a 1 mm layer of FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 to the back face of tiles of varying thickness. Tiles are embedded by floating them into full contact with the mortar, leaving appropriate joint spacings.

  6. 6

    Workability Test

If the adhesive sticks to the finger when pressed, application may continue. If it does not stick, the open time has elapsed; the adhesive must be scraped off and fresh material applied.

  7. 7

    Grouting

Grouting may commence at the earliest 24 hours after installation. INNO-FIX Series grout fillers must be used to fill the joint gaps.

  8. 8

    Tool Cleaning

All tools and equipment must be cleaned with water immediately after application is complete. Once FOX CERAFLEX® FX114 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces by mechanical means.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy, or very windy weather.

Critical

For exterior applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind, and frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

If the adhesive does not stick to the finger, the open time has elapsed; the adhesive must be scraped off and fresh adhesive applied.

Important

A minimum of 24 hours must be allowed before foot traffic and grouting.

Important

If the surface temperature exceeds +25°C, the surface should be lightly dampened before application.

Important

FOX PRIMERA® FL220 primer must be applied to highly absorbent surfaces (aerated concrete, gypsum plaster, chipboard, plasterboard, lime plaster) prior to bonding, and a minimum of 8 hours must be allowed.

Important

Wooden chipboards must contain a maximum of 10% moisture; they must be screwed to the surface at 30 cm intervals, and edge joints must be at least 8 mm wide.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Information

Working and reaction times for tile adhesive mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity, and substrate temperatures. The values above are valid at +23°C and 50% relative humidity.

Important

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Must be stored out of reach of children.
