Product Description

FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 is a two-component epoxy resin-based grout and adhesive material. Component A consists of epoxy resin and Component B of epoxy hardener; Resin A/Hardener B are mixed at a ratio of 100/6 (by weight). Thanks to its high resistance to chemicals and bacteria, it is suitable for a wide range of applications from food production facilities and hospitals to swimming pools and industrial kitchens. It is suitable for joint widths between 2 mm and 10 mm. Its solvent-free composition and hygienic properties meet the requirements of demanding environments. It complies with the TS EN 13888-1:2022 RG (Reaction resin-based grout materials) class. It offers high mechanical performance with a compressive strength after dry storage of ≥45 N/mm², flexural strength of ≥30 N/mm², and abrasion resistance of ≤250 mm³.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The tile adhesive must be allowed to reach the required strength. Before applying the material, ensure that the tile surfaces are clean.

  2. 2

    Mixing

FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 is packaged as separate components. If only part of the packaging is to be used, mix Resin A/Hardener B at a ratio of 100/6 (by weight). Mix mechanically for at least 3 minutes using a drill with a mixing paddle at 400–600 rpm until a homogeneous two-component mixture is obtained. Never mix by hand or with a trowel.

  3. 3

    Application

FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 is applied into the joints using a plastic or hard rubber trowel, or with the aid of a grout gun. Excess material is scraped from the joints. In deep joints, the initially applied material may settle; ensure the joint is completely filled. Depending on the ambient and surface temperature, wait 15 to 30 minutes, then clean the surface with a suitable sponge and warm (room temperature) soapy water to finish the joints. The sponge should be changed frequently as it becomes soiled during cleaning.

  4. 4

    Cleaning of Tools and Equipment

After application, tools and equipment used should be cleaned with warm (room temperature) soapy water. Once FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

  5. 5

    Cleaning of Tiles

Epoxy-based grout materials form a film layer on tiles. The final film layer on the tiles should be cleaned 4 to 10 hours after application using a suitable sponge and hot soapy water; 10% alcohol should be added to the final rinse water and the surface wiped down. If cleaning is delayed, it becomes very difficult.

Critical

FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 must never be mixed by hand or with a trowel; it must be mixed mechanically using a suitable mixing drill.

Critical

Water or fresh material must never be added to the FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 mixture.

Critical

If the ambient and substrate temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C, application must not begin; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

For the material to complete its cure, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the specified minimum temperature (+5°C).

Critical

FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 should be cleaned with soapy water at room temperature within 15 to 30 minutes after application. If cleaning is delayed, it becomes very difficult.

Important

Application must not be carried out in excessively hot, windy, or rainy weather.

Important

If application is to be carried out in cold weather, the packaging should be conditioned in a warm environment between +20°C and +25°C to improve workability.

Important

The working and curing times of epoxy resin-based products depend on the ambient and substrate temperature. The optimum application temperature range is +20°C to +25°C.

Important

Low temperatures slow down the reaction, increase viscosity and consumption. High temperatures accelerate the reaction, shortening the working time and pot life.

Important

The final film layer on tiles should be cleaned 4 to 10 hours after application using a suitable sponge and hot soapy water; 10% alcohol should be added to the final rinse water and the surface wiped down.

Important

Once FOX EPOXYFUGA FX142 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.

Important

Opened packaging must be sealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

The product should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C. Store in a cool, dry place protected from frost.

Critical

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; these areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

Technical values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend it.

Information

For short-term storage, pallets must not be stacked more than 3 high and shipments must follow a first-in, first-out system. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.
