Usage Areas

  • For interior and exterior applications on vertical and horizontal surfaces
  • On all types of concrete screed, plaster, screed and cement-based surfaces
  • For bonding tiles, ceramics, porcelain tiles and natural stone over waterproofing in wet areas such as bathrooms, balconies and kitchens
  • For bonding small-format tiles over existing tiles in renovation and repair work
  • For cladding materials up to a maximum size of 60 cm × 60 cm

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation – Cement-Based Surfaces

Surfaces to be treated must be sound, free from all dust and dirt, and level. Areas requiring repair must be repaired at least 1 day in advance using INNO-CRETE series repair mortars. If the surface temperature exceeds +25°C, the surface should be lightly dampened.

  2. 2

    Surface Preparation – Other Surfaces

Before applying to highly absorbent aerated concrete, gypsum plaster, chipboard, gypsum board or lime plaster surfaces, FOX PRIMERA® FL220 Primer diluted 1:1 with water must be applied to the surface. Bonding may commence a minimum of 8 hours after primer application.

  3. 3

    Mixing

Pour the appropriate amount of water specified on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Open the FOX CERAPOL® FX111 FLEX bag and slowly add the powder to the water while mixing with a drill mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. No lumps should remain in the material. Allow the material to rest for 3 minutes, then mix again for 1 minute before use. Mixing ratios: Grey – 25 kg / 7.50±0.25 litres of water per bag; 300±10 ml of water per kg. White – 25 kg / 7.75±0.25 litres of water per bag; 310±10 ml of water per kg.

  4. 4

    Application

Apply a 1 mm layer of FOX CERAPOL® FX111 FLEX to the application surface using the flat side of the trowel. Within the open time (30 minutes), spread the adhesive over an area that can be covered in that time using a notched trowel in a single direction at a uniform thickness. When bonding tiles of varying thickness, it is recommended to also apply a 1 mm layer of mortar to the back of each tile. Press the tiles firmly into the mortar to ensure full contact. Complete the application leaving appropriate joint gaps.

  5. 5

    Applicability Test

Press a finger into the adhesive. If the adhesive sticks to the finger, application may continue. If it does not stick, the open time has expired; scrape the adhesive from the surface and apply fresh mortar.

  6. 6

    Grouting

INNO-FIX Series grout products should be used to fill the joints. Grouting may commence approximately 24 hours after tile installation.

  7. 7

    Tool Cleaning

All tools and equipment must be cleaned with water immediately after use. Once FOX CERAPOL® FX111 FLEX has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

Do not apply if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; wait until suitable temperatures are reached.

Critical

Do not apply in extremely hot, rainy or very windy weather conditions.

Critical

For exterior applications, protect from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Important

Grouting and foot traffic are only permitted after 24 hours.

Important

If the adhesive does not stick to the finger, the open time has expired; in this case the adhesive must be scraped off the surface and fresh adhesive applied.

Important

Working and reaction times of tile adhesive mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. High temperatures shorten the working time; low temperatures extend it.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry, cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Critical

Wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

Storage and application areas must be ventilated. Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous.

Important

Store out of reach of children.

Information

The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.

Important

For use with cladding materials up to a maximum size of 60 cm × 60 cm.
