Product Description

FOX FUGANORM FX120 is a cement-based grout containing mineral fillers, synthetic additives and special cement. It is used for grouting joints of 2–6 mm width in surfaces such as ceramics, tiles, pavers, marble and small glass mosaics. It is unaffected by temperature changes and water; it is resistant to water and frost. It meets the requirements of TS EN 13888 CG2A (Cement-Based, Improved Additional Properties, High Abrasion Resistance). It can be used safely in interior and exterior applications, on vertical and horizontal surfaces, in all wet areas and in all types of decorative applications. With an open time of approximately 2 hours, it offers comfortable application over large areas.

  • All wet areas
  • All types of decorative applications

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Before starting grouting, the tile adhesive must be allowed to gain sufficient strength; a waiting period of 48 hours is generally sufficient. Mortar residues in the joints must be cleaned out and the joints cleared. Joints of highly absorbent materials must be dampened before filling.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Add the amount of clean water specified on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Slowly add FOX FUGANORM FX120 to the water while mixing with a drill mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 4 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps should remain in the material. Allow the material to rest for 30 seconds, then mix again for 1 minute to make it ready for application. (For a 20 kg bag: approximately 6.40 lt ± 0.20 water; for 1 kg: approximately 320 ml ± 10 water.)

  3. 3

    Application

Apply the mixed material into the joints using a rubber float with diagonal movements. For deep joints, allow the material to settle first, then repeat the process. In extremely hot weather and on absorbent surfaces, lightly dampen the joints with a wet sponge before application. Once the material left to cure has reached a firmness that resists finger pressure, finish the surfaces with a damp sponge and clean any material remaining on the tile surface.

  4. 4

    Cleaning of Tools

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX FUGANORM FX120 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

Application temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Application must not be carried out outside this range.

Critical

Before starting grouting, the tile adhesive must be allowed to gain sufficient strength; a waiting period of 48 hours is generally sufficient.

Critical

Using varying amounts of mixing water during application will cause colour variation in the joints; application must be carried out without changing the water quantity.

Critical

Excess water will weaken the material and may cause powdering and cracking.

Important

In extremely hot weather and on absorbent surfaces, the grout material may lose its water rapidly, causing surface cracking; joints should be lightly dampened with a wet sponge before application.

Important

Joints of highly absorbent materials must be dampened before filling.

Important

Sawdust must not be used for surface cleaning.

Important

Once FOX FUGANORM FX120 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically; tools and equipment must be cleaned with water immediately after use.

Important

When stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 3 pallets may be stacked; for long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated. Must be stored out of reach of children.

Information

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
