FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON is a single-component, coloured, ready-to-use surface hardener composed of cement, specially selected quartz aggregate, pigments and additives, applied by dry-shaking onto freshly trowelled stamped concrete and screed surfaces. Thanks to its modified polymer content, it forms a monolithic structure with the concrete, resulting in a floor surface 2–4 times more durable than a standard concrete surface.

Product Description

FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON is a single-component, coloured, ready-to-use dry shake surface hardener composed of cement, specially selected quartz aggregate, pigments and additives. It is applied by dry-shaking onto freshly trowelled stamped concrete and screed surfaces. Thanks to the modified polymers it contains, it absorbs the bleed water from the floor concrete and, after trowelling, forms a monolithic structure with the concrete. The product achieves a compressive strength of 80 N/mm² at 28 days, enabling a floor surface 2–4 times more durable than a standard concrete surface. With its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, it can be used safely in interior and exterior spaces, as well as in industrial and public areas. Colour options are available; for light-colour applications, a minimum of 7 kg/m² is recommended.

Advantages

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Quality

The compressive strength of the concrete to be treated must be at least 25 N/mm² (C25). For best results, the concrete slump values should be between 75–100 mm, the concrete should contain an adequate amount of cement (300–350 kg/m³), and the slab thickness should be at least 15 cm. Air-entrained concretes are not suitable.

  2. 2

    Primer Application

In monolithic screed applications, FOX BINDER FM125 must be applied as a primer onto the roughened concrete surface before pouring, in order to ensure adhesion between the existing concrete and the screed. In floating screed applications, a polyethylene sheet must be laid over the existing concrete to prevent the screed concrete from bonding to it.

  3. 3

    Concrete Pouring

Formwork must be set up in accordance with the project, and bags of FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON must be arranged along the main edges according to the planned consumption rates. Screeds with a water/cement ratio above 0.45 and a concrete class of at least C25 should be preferred. During concrete pouring, a vibrating screed must be used to compact the concrete; any water rising to the surface must be swept away with a wooden screed.

  4. 4

    Dry-Shaking the Surface Hardener

Dry-shaking must not begin until the concrete has hardened sufficiently to leave a footprint of 0.75–1.0 cm depth when walked upon. In the first stage, 2/3 of the total consumption must be scattered over the concrete surface and spread with a bull float; the material must be allowed to absorb moisture (change colour), then disc-trowelled to integrate it with the concrete. The remaining 1/3 of the material must be applied in the same manner. For joint edges, the product must be mixed with a small amount of water to form a mortar and applied with a trowel.

  5. 5

    Trowelling

After disc trowelling (helicopter pan trowelling), the process must progress from rough trowelling to fine trowelling. Fine trowelling with a blade must be carried out until the desired finish is achieved. Any material that spills onto adjacent panels during disc trowelling must be removed with a spatula.

  6. 6

    Curing

After the surface hardener application is complete, a curing compound must be applied to the surface to prevent shrinkage cracks and ensure dust-free performance. Curing must be carried out in both summer and winter. Please contact SARTECH Technical Service for suitable curing compounds.

  7. 7

    Joint Formation

Once the concrete has hardened sufficiently, the joints between panels must be cut to a minimum width of 4 mm and filled with PU sealant to prevent the risk of cracking and dusting.

  8. 8

    Cleaning of Tools

Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with water after application. Once FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

The compressive strength of the concrete to be treated must be at least 25 N/mm² (C25).

Critical

Air-entrained concretes are not suitable surfaces for surface hardener application.

Critical

Screeds to which FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON is to be applied must have a thickness exceeding 7 cm, a water/cement ratio above 0.45, and a concrete class of at least C25.

Critical

Dry-shaking must not begin until the concrete has hardened sufficiently to leave a footprint of 0.75–1.0 cm depth when walked upon.

Critical

After the surface hardener application is complete, a curing compound must be applied to the surface to prevent shrinkage cracks and ensure dust-free performance. Curing must be carried out in both summer and winter.

Important

Once the concrete has hardened sufficiently, the joints between panels must be cut to a minimum width of 4 mm and filled with PU sealant.

Important

FOX HARDTOP® FF300 BASKI BETON must not be scattered over long distances during application, in order to prevent segregation of the aggregates.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

The product must be stored between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Protect from frost.

Important

For short-term storage, pallets must not be stacked more than 3 high and must be dispatched on a first-in, first-out basis. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of one another.

Critical

Protective clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

Open flames near storage and application areas are dangerous; areas must be adequately ventilated.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
