Product Description
FOX SSL® 80 is a cement-based, self-levelling, ready-to-use high-strength screed that can be applied at thicknesses of 3–50 mm, is walkable after 3 hours, can be applied over old and new substrates in interior and exterior areas, is suitable for underfloor heating, and can be used as an underlayer or as a wearing course. Thanks to its mineral filler and polymer-reinforced structure, it offers high compressive strength (≥30 N/mm²) and flexural strength (≥5 N/mm²). The product meets the requirements of standard TS EN 13813:2004 CT-C30-F5-A22 and can also be used reliably for surface levelling prior to bonding ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet, and PVC floor coverings. Prepared by mixing with water only, it can be applied by hand or by pump.

- For levelling defective screeds before bonding ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet, and PVC floor coverings
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
Concrete substrates to be treated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-pored surface. Weak concrete fragments must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. The substrate must be ready with a compressive strength of at least 25 N/mm², a tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm², a moisture content of maximum 4%, a temperature of minimum +5°C, and at least +3°C above the dew point.
- 2
Priming
The substrate must be primed to improve the adhesion of FOX SSL® 80 to the surface, reduce air bubbles, and prevent the mixing water from being absorbed by the substrate. Depending on the substrate structure, an appropriate primer from the FOX EPOTHANE® series is applied; while the material is still wet, silica sand 40–45 Afs (0.2–0.5 mm) is broadcast and allowed to dry for a minimum of 12 hours (24 hours depending on weather conditions). After scraping off any excess remaining on the surface, loose sand is cleaned with an industrial vacuum and application of FOX PRIMERA® FL220 or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 primer proceeds.
- 3
Mixing
Pour the amount of water specified on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Approximately 5.25±0.25 lt of water per 25 kg bag (approximately 210±10 ml per 1 kg) is used. Slowly add FOX SSL® 80 into the water and mix with an electric mixer and a suitable mixing paddle at 600–1000 rpm for 2–3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Lumps must not be allowed to form at the bottom of the bucket and any lumps must be broken up. After waiting the maturation time of 3–5 minutes, mix for a further 1 minute to make it ready for use.
- 4
Screed Application
FOX SSL® 80 is poured onto the surface and applied at the desired thickness using a notched trowel or a suitable float. It can be applied up to 30 mm thickness in a single pass; for thicknesses above 30 mm, the sand addition table must be taken into account. On firm and non-absorbent surfaces, the minimum application thickness is 1.5 mm. When the coating reaches the appropriate consistency, a spiked roller must be applied to release air; if the spiked roller application is delayed, roller marks may remain on the surface.
- 5
Pump Application
FOX SSL® 80 can be applied using screw, piston, and continuous mixing pumps that pump approximately 20–40 litres of mortar per minute. Machines and hoses must be cleaned if left idle for more than 15 minutes. The pumped material is applied at the desired thickness using a notched trowel or a suitable float and de-aerated with a spiked roller.
- 6
Tool Cleaning
After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. Once FOX SSL® 80 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface by mechanical means.
Do not apply if the ambient or surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; wait until suitable temperatures are reached.
The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying.
Do not apply in extremely hot, rainy, or windy weather.
Materials to be used on the application area should be brought to the site and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
In extremely cold weather, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised using heaters; materials to be used should be conditioned at +20°C – +25°C and made ready for application.
To allow the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest (3–5 minutes) and then mixed again.
Pumps and hoses must be cleaned if left idle for more than 15 minutes.
The product should be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry, cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months. Opened packages must be used within 1 week.
During storage and application, avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
During application, wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask.
Store out of reach of children. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas.
