Product Description

FOX SSL® 65 is a cement-based, self-levelling, ready-to-use floor levelling compound that can be applied at thicknesses of 1–10 mm. Its special cement structure reinforced with mineral fillers and polymers provides both strength and ease of application.

It meets the requirements of TS EN 13813:2004 standard CT-C20-F4-A22: ≥20 N/mm² compressive strength (C20), ≥4 N/mm² flexural strength (F4) and abrasion resistance of 22 cm³/50 cm² according to Böhme (A22). The reaction to fire classification is A1 according to TS EN 13501-1.

Prepared by mixing with water only, the product is used for levelling defective and uneven surfaces prior to the application of ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet and PVC floor coverings. It is also suitable for pump application.

Advantages

  • Can be applied by pump.
  • Provides fast and easy application.
  • Economical.
  • Mixed with water only.
  • Self-levelling and self-smoothing.

Usage Areas

  • On interior, horizontal surfaces
  • In hospitals and shops
  • In schools and administrative buildings
  • In hotels and apartments
  • In shopping centres
  • For levelling rough and uneven concrete surfaces and correcting defects
  • For levelling defective screeds prior to bonding ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet and PVC floor coverings

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates to be treated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-porous surface. Weak concrete particles must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned using an industrial vacuum cleaner.

  2. 2

    Priming

The substrate must be primed to improve the adhesion of FOX SSL® 65 to the floor, reduce air bubbles and prevent the mixing water from being absorbed by the substrate. FOX PRIMERA® FL220 or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 primer, selected according to requirements, is mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio and applied by brush or roller. A second coat is applied on highly absorbent surfaces. For primer selection on surfaces other than cement-based substrates, please contact the technical department.

  3. 3

    Mixing

Pour the amount of water indicated on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Slowly add FOX SSL® 65 into the water and mix for 3–4 minutes using an electric mixer with a suitable mixing paddle until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Lumps must not be allowed to form at the bottom of the bucket; any lumps that form must be broken up. After waiting approximately 2 minutes, mix for a further 1 minute and make ready for use. Mixing ratio: approximately 5.25±0.25 litres of water per 25 kg bag; approximately 210±10 ml of water per 1 kg.

  4. 4

    Laying (Application)

FOX SSL® 65 is poured onto the surface and applied at the desired thickness using a notched trowel or suitable float. When the coating reaches the appropriate consistency, a spiked roller must be applied to release air. If the spiked roller is applied too late, roller marks may remain on the surface.

  5. 5

    Cleaning of Tools and Equipment

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX SSL® 65 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.

Critical

After applying FOX SSL® 65, a minimum of 1 day (24 hours) must be allowed before applying any further covering.

Critical

The compressive strength of the substrate must be at least 25 N/mm², tensile strength at least 1.5 N/mm², moisture content maximum 4% and floor temperature minimum +10°C.

Critical

Care must be taken to ensure that the floor temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point.

Critical

The substrate must be clean, dry and free from all foreign matter such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface curing compounds.

Important

If the spiked roller is applied too late, roller marks may remain on the surface.

Important

Materials to be used in the application area should be brought and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to ambient conditions.

Important

In extremely cold weather, the ambient and floor temperature should be raised using heaters; materials should be conditioned at +20°C/+25°C and made ready for application.

Important

The ambient and floor temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature for the material to complete its curing. After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.

Important

The product should be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Critical

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

The technical values above are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend it.
