Product Description

FOX SSL® 810 is a cement and synthetic polymer-based, single-component floor levelling screed. It can be applied in thicknesses of 1–10 mm and, thanks to its high-performance, sandable and self-spreading nature, is used effectively for levelling rough, uneven concrete surfaces and correcting surface defects. It is also ideal for floor preparation prior to bonding ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet and PVC coverings. It meets the requirements of TS EN 13813 standard CT-C25-F5, offering ≥25 N/mm² compressive strength and ≥7 N/mm² flexural strength at 28 days. The product is mixed with water only and can also be applied by pump.

Advantages

  • Can be applied by pump.
  • Provides a smooth and perfectly finished surface texture.
  • Ensures fast and easy application.
  • Does not shrink, does not dust.
  • Self-spreading and self-levelling.
  • Economical.
  • Mixed with water only.

Usage Areas

  • In hospitals
  • In shops
  • In schools and administrative buildings
  • In hotels
  • In residential apartments
  • In supermarkets
  • In shopping centres
  • For levelling rough and uneven concrete surfaces and correcting surface defects
  • For levelling defective screeds prior to bonding ceramic, marble, natural stone, parquet, carpet and PVC coverings

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The concrete substrate to be applied must be sound, with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm², a minimum tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm², a moisture content of maximum 4% and a temperature of minimum +8°C. Care must be taken to ensure the substrate temperature is at least +3°C above the dew point. The surface must be opened to a porous state using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance; weak concrete fragments must be removed, voids and holes must be fully opened, and the resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum.

  2. 2

    Priming

The substrate must be primed to increase the adhesion of FOX SSL® 810 to the surface, reduce air bubbles and prevent the mixing liquid from being absorbed by the substrate. FOX PRIMERA® FL220 or FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 primer, selected according to requirements, is mixed with water at a 1:1 ratio and applied by brush or roller. A second coat is applied on highly absorbent surfaces. Once the primer has dried, application of FOX SSL® 810 can proceed.

  3. 3

    Mixing

Approximately 5.00±0.25 lt of water should be used per 25 kg / 1 bag of FOX SSL® 810. Pour the quantity of water indicated on the packaging into a clean mixing container. Slowly add FOX SSL® 810 to the water and mix with an electric mixer and a suitable mixing paddle for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Lumps at the bottom of the bucket must not be allowed to form; any lumps must be broken up. After waiting approximately 2 minutes, mix for a further 1 minute and the product is ready for use.

  4. 4

    Application (Coating)

FOX SSL® 810 is poured onto the surface and applied at the desired thickness using a notched trowel or a suitable float. Once the coating has reached the appropriate consistency, a spiked roller must be applied to release air. If the spiked roller is applied too late, marks may remain on the surface.

  5. 5

    Tool and Equipment Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX SSL® 810 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +8°C or above +30°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application should not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy or windy weather.

Critical

For thicknesses of 5 mm and above, the overcoating time is between 36–48 hours.

Critical

After applying FOX SSL® 810, a minimum of 3 days must be allowed before applying any further coating on top.

Critical

To allow the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

After mixing, the material should be allowed to rest and then mixed again.

Important

Materials to be used on the application area should be brought and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to the ambient conditions.

Important

In extremely cold weather, heaters should be used to raise the ambient and substrate temperature; materials to be used should be conditioned at +20°C/+25°C and made ready for application.

Important

If the spiked roller is applied too late, roller marks may remain on the surface.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Information

Under appropriate storage conditions, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by the ambient and substrate temperature and the relative humidity of the air. At low temperatures the reaction slows down; at high temperatures the reaction accelerates.

Information

The technical values above are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated.

Important

Must be stored out of reach of children.
