Product Description

FOX EPC MORTAR® FC255/FC255 SL is a cement-based, epoxy-modified, three-component (A+B+C) repair and waterproofing mortar. Thanks to its moisture barrier properties, it can be safely used on damp concrete surfaces. It complies with EN 1504-3 standard class R4. With an application thickness ranging from 0.5 mm to 3 mm, it can be applied as a thin repair mortar or for surface levelling on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. It is solvent-free, applied without primer, and can be overcoated with epoxy coating systems. Its density is 2.00 kg/lt, providing ≥38.2 N/mm² compressive strength (self) at 28 days and ≥2 N/mm² adhesion strength to concrete. The working time at +20°C is 30 minutes.

Application Steps

Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from any residue that could impair the adhesion of the material. If the surface to be treated is dry, it should be lightly dampened; however, care must be taken to ensure there is no free water on the surface. All iron and wooden wedges on the surface must be removed, and voids up to 4 cm deep must be filled with FOX MORTAR FC188 T.

Mixing
Components A and B are emptied into a clean mixing bucket and mixed for 2 minutes using an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm. Component C is then added slowly and mixed for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous, lump-free mixture is obtained. After resting for approximately 3 minutes and remixing for 30 seconds, the material is ready for use. No water or other additives should be added to the mortar during or after mixing.

Application
The prepared mixture is applied to the surface with a trowel at a thickness of 0.5 mm to 3 mm. The maximum application thickness must not exceed 3 mm. For a smoother finish, the surface can be levelled with a steel trowel.

Cleaning of Tools
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with solvent. Once FOX EPC MORTAR® FC255/FC255 SL has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

FOX EPC MORTAR® FC255/FC255 SL must be applied within 30 minutes at +20°C. This time is reduced to 20 minutes at +30°C.

Important

Working and reaction times of cement- and epoxy-based repair mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperature. High temperatures accelerate hydration and shorten the working time accordingly; low temperatures extend the working time.

Critical

For the material to complete its curing, the substrate temperature and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

No solvents or similar substances should be added to the prepared mixture during application.

Important

Large surfaces exposed to the atmosphere, especially in hot, dry or windy conditions, must be protected from rain and other external influences for 24–48 hours after application.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in original packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost, between +5°C and +30°C. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.
