Product Description

FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 RAPID is a polymer-reinforced, special cement and mineral filler-based, single-component, high-strength, fluid-consistency, shrinkage-free grout mortar. It meets the R4 class performance requirements under the TS EN 1504-3 standard. It achieves a 28-day compressive strength of ≥65 N/mm² and an adhesion to concrete of ≥2 N/mm². At +23°C it has a pot life of approximately 5 minutes and can be opened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic approximately 30 minutes after application. As it contains no metal, it carries no moisture-related corrosion risk and is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles. It can be applied in a single layer at thicknesses of 10–50 mm.

Advantages

  • Its fluid consistency allows it to spread easily into narrow sections and hard-to-reach voids.
  • Gains strength rapidly; can be opened to traffic 30 minutes after application and sets quickly.
  • Suitable for demanding service conditions thanks to high hardness and abrasion resistance.
  • Low tendency to bleed and segregate, forming a homogeneous fill.
  • Resistant to freezing and thawing.
  • Provides strong adhesion to concrete surfaces, working integrally with the existing structure.
  • Its shrinkage-free nature offers safe use in void-filling and anchoring applications.
  • Contains no metal, so it poses no moisture-related corrosion risk.

Usage Areas

  • Raising and anchoring manhole and inspection chamber covers
  • Installation of kerbs and paving stones
  • Anchoring posts and similar elements
  • Rapid repair applications on concrete surfaces exposed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic
  • Void-filling and localised repair work requiring a fluid mortar

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The application surface must be sound, even and load-bearing, and must be completely free of dust, oil, dirt, rust, release agents, detergent residues and all other foreign matter. If cracks, voids or cavities are present on the surface, these areas must be repaired with the appropriate FOX INNO-CRETE series repair mortars; grout application should commence approximately 3–4 days after the repair.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Only products in sound, unopened and undamaged packaging must be used. For 25 kg / 1 bag of product, approximately 3±0.25 litres (approximately 120±10 ml per 1 kg) of clean water is placed in a clean mixing container. FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 RAPID is added slowly and continuously to the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm fitted with a Collomix MK type paddle for approximately 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is achieved. No additional water must be added to the mix afterwards.

  3. 3

    Application

The prepared mortar is applied in a single layer between 10 mm and 50 mm thick using a plastering trowel or float. While the mortar is still fresh, it is screeded to bring the surface to the required level and flatness.

  4. 4

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 RAPID has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

FOX FASTMORTAR® FC233 RAPID must be applied within approximately 5 minutes at +23°C; it must not be used after the pot life has been exceeded.

Critical

No additional water must be added to the mix afterwards in order to achieve the desired consistency.

Critical

Products in damaged or previously opened packaging must under no circumstances be used.

Important

If cracks, voids or cavities are present on the surface, these areas must be repaired with the appropriate FOX INNO-CRETE series repair mortars; grout application should commence approximately 3–4 days after the repair.

Critical

The ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature (+5°C); otherwise the material will be unable to complete its set.

Important

The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by the ambient and substrate temperature and the relative humidity of the air. High temperatures shorten the time; low temperatures extend it.

Important

When used together with fine aggregate, the materials must be dry-mixed first and then poured into a bucket containing water. The mixing water may be increased by a maximum of 10%.

Important

The product must be stored in its original, unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 9 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Critical

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. The product must be stored out of the reach of children.
