Product Description
FOX POLYHAFT FC305 is a cement-based, polymer-modified anti-corrosion coating and adhesion-promoting primer for steel reinforcement. Thanks to its special cement structure with mineral fillers and polymer reinforcement, it provides an adhesion strength of ≥2 N/mm² at 28 days. It is resistant to freeze-thaw cycles, chloride penetration, and the effects of de-icing salts. The product is mixed with water only and can be applied by brush or wet spray system. It is used in reinforced concrete repairs prior to repair mortar application for reinforcement protection, as a bonding bridge between old and new concrete, and for substrate preparation prior to screed and render applications in interior and exterior areas.
Key Benefits
- Extends the service life of reinforced concrete repairs by protecting steel reinforcement from corrosion.
- Increases the reliability of repair and coating systems with high adhesion strength (≥2 N/mm² at 28 days).
- Reliably used in harsh climatic conditions due to its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salt effects.
- Provides long-term protection in coastal and industrial environments thanks to its resistance to chloride penetration.
- Easy application by brush or wet spray reduces labour time.
- Its practical formulation, mixed with water only, simplifies on-site use.
Advantages
- Creates high adhesion reliability and strong bond strength after proper substrate preparation.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw effects.
- Can be easily applied by brush or wet spray system.
- Resistant to chloride penetration.
- Resistant to the effects of de-icing salts.
- Not affected by ambient humidity.
- High mechanical strength.
- Mixed with water only.
Usage Areas
- For protecting reinforcement from corrosion prior to repair mortar application in reinforced concrete repairs
- As an adhesion-promoting primer prior to screeds in interior and exterior areas
- As an adhesion promoter between old and new concrete
- As an adhesion promoter prior to render application in interior and exterior areas
- As an adhesion promoter for repair mortars, ready-mix concretes, fast-curing screed mortars, drainage and screed mortars, and conventional sand-cement mortars
- As an adhesion promoter for transparent natural stones that are not resistant to staining
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be treated must be sound and free from oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint, and bitumen residues, with all loose particles removed. The surface must be dampened with water prior to application, but ponding must not be allowed. If the coating material loses water rapidly and appears matt, the surface must be re-wetted. Application must not be carried out in extremely hot or windy weather.
- 2
Mixing
The appropriate amount of water indicated on the packaging (approximately 6.0±0.25 litres for a 25 kg bag; approximately 240±10 ml for 1 kg) is placed into a clean mixing container. FOX POLYHAFT FC305 is slowly added to the water while mixing with a drill mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. No lumps should remain in the material. After resting for 1 minute, mix again for 1 minute to prepare for application.
- 3
Application
The prepared FOX POLYHAFT FC305 mixture is applied in two or three coats using a masonry brush. The direction of brush application for each coat must be perpendicular to the previous one. The waiting time between coats varies depending on ambient conditions. Without allowing the product to dry, the screed mortar or cement mortar must be applied immediately, wet-on-wet and compactly.
- 4
Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with water after application. Once FOX POLYHAFT FC305 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.
Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.
Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy, or windy weather.
Do not allow the FOX POLYHAFT FC305 mortar to dry! The screed mortar or cement mortar must be applied immediately, wet-on-wet and compactly.
In exterior applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain, or frost for the first 24 hours.
For the material to complete its curing, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
When stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
Must be stored out of reach of children. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas.
The working and reaction times of cement- and acrylic-based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. Reaction slows at low temperatures; high temperatures accelerate the reaction.
