Product Description
FOX SILK MORTAR FC125 is a single-component, pre-paint surface levelling and finishing skim coat putty composed of mineral fillers and polymer-reinforced special cement. It can be easily applied with a trowel or spatula on vertical and overhead surfaces of interior and exterior facades of buildings. Effective within an application thickness range of 1–3 mm, the product is also used for repairing pores, voids, and hairline cracks up to 3 mm on surfaces. Its white colour helps the paint coat achieve more efficient results; it enables Q3 and Q4 quality surface finishes to be obtained. It complies with TS EN 1504-3:2008 standard, class R1.
Key Benefits
- Provides a smooth, dust-free surface on interior and exterior facades prior to painting.
- Offers high adhesion strength to the substrate with its polymer-reinforced formula.
- Thanks to its white colour, helps the paint coat achieve efficient results with lower consumption.
- Meets Q3 and Q4 quality surface standards, delivering a superior aesthetic finish.
- Has a putty consistency suitable for safe use on vertical and overhead applications.
- Can be used in projects requiring technical specifications due to TS EN 1504-3:2008 R1 class compliance.
Advantages
- Provides a smooth surface in the final coat.
- Polymer-modified.
- Suitable for interior and exterior use.
- Forms a dust-free, solid and even surface prior to painting and coating.
- Has a putty consistency.
- Thanks to its white colour, prepares a more efficient base for paint.
- Q3 and Q4 quality surface finish is achieved.
Usage Areas
- As a levelling mortar for pre-paint preparation of all types of concrete and plaster
- As a thin repair plaster on vertical and overhead applications
- For repairing pores, voids, or hairline cracks up to 3 mm on surfaces
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
The surface to be applied must be free from mould release agents, dust, paint, and similar substances. Poorly adhering and weak parts must be removed from the surface. For surfaces requiring deep repair, FOX MORTAR FC188 T structural repair mortar is used. The surface should be levelled with FOX SLİM MORTAR FC105 for surface correction and filling purposes prior to the skim coat. The surface to be applied must be dampened.
- 2
Mixing
The appropriate amount of water specified on the packaging (approximately 360±10 ml per 1 kg of product; approximately 7.20±0.20 lt of water per 20 kg bag) is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX SILK MORTAR FC125 is slowly added into the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 2–3 minutes until homogeneous. There must be no lumps in the material. After maturing the material for 5–10 minutes, it is mixed again for 1 minute and made ready for application.
- 3
Application
The prepared mixture is applied in a single pass at a thickness of 1–3 mm onto the pre-dampened surface using a trowel or spatula. After the mortar has drawn in, water is sprinkled on the surface and levelled with a plastic trowel. In excessively hot, dry, and windy conditions, protection against rapid evaporation must be provided for 48 hours using wet burlap or curing materials.
- 4
Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned immediately with water. Once FOX SILK MORTAR FC125 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
FOX SILK MORTAR FC125 should not be used under epoxy paints and coatings.
Do not apply on surfaces that are unsound or have plaster defects deeper than 3 mm; in such cases FOX BASEMOR FC205 or FOX EPC MORTAR FC255 should be preferred.
FOX SILK MORTAR FC125 must be applied within 45 minutes at +23°C. This time is reduced to 20 minutes at +30°C.
In outdoor applications, the surface must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind, and frost for the first 24 hours.
The substrate and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature (+5°C).
In applications carried out in excessively hot, dry, and windy conditions, protection against rapid evaporation must be provided for 48 hours using wet burlap or curing materials.
Working and reaction times of cement-based repair mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity, and substrate temperatures. High temperatures shorten the working time; low temperatures extend it.
Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
The product must be stored at room temperature between +5°C and +30°C, in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
The product must be stored out of reach of children.
The technical values above are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions.
