Product Description

FOX SLIM MORTAR FC105 is a cement-based, polymer-modified, fibre-reinforced, single-component, ready-to-use fine repair mortar. It complies with EN 1504-3 standard class R3. It provides excellent surface repair at application thicknesses between 1 mm and 5 mm. It does not shrink; it exhibits high adhesion to concrete and plastered surfaces. A compressive strength of ≥25 N/mm² and a bond strength of ≥1.5 N/mm² are achieved at 28 days. Fire classification is A1 under EN 13501-1. It can be safely applied indoors and outdoors, on horizontal and vertical surfaces. It is also preferred for surface repair prior to tile and ceramic applications.

Key Benefits

  • Compliant with EN 1504-3 class R3, it can be used with confidence in structural concrete repair.
  • Its single-component, ready-to-use formula eliminates the risk of on-site mixing errors.
  • Its non-shrink properties minimise crack formation in repair areas.
  • Its high thixotropic properties allow application on vertical and overhead surfaces without sagging.
  • Its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles ensures long service life in exterior applications.
  • The 1–5 mm thin application range makes it ideal for surface repair prior to tile and ceramic installation.

Advantages

  • Easy to apply.
  • Can be applied to all concrete surfaces.
  • Does not shrink.
  • Provides high adhesion to concrete and plastered surfaces.
  • Provides a smooth surface finish.
  • Exhibits high thixotropic properties.
  • Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.

Usage Areas

  • Indoors and outdoors, in horizontal and vertical applications
  • Repair of reinforced concrete structures
  • Repair and plastering of walls and ceilings
  • Surface repair prior to tile and ceramic installation

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from all dust and contamination. Where the repair depth exceeds 5 mm, FOX MORTAR FC188 T should be used. The surface must be dampened with water before application, but ponding must not be allowed to form. In hot or windy conditions where the material loses water rapidly, increase the mixing water by 10%.

  2. 2

    Mixing

The appropriate quantity of water indicated on the packaging is poured into a clean mixing container. FOX SLIM MORTAR FC105 is added to the water slowly and mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for 2–3 minutes until a homogeneous mix is obtained. The material must be lump-free. It is then left to mature for 3–5 minutes, after which it is mixed for a further 1 minute to make it ready for application.

  3. 3

    Mixing Ratios

Approximately 4.75±0.25 litres of water should be used per 25 kg (1 bag) of FOX SLIM MORTAR FC105. Approximately 190±10 ml of water should be used per 1 kg of product.

  4. 4

    Application

The prepared mix is applied in a single pass at a thickness of 1–5 mm using a trowel. After the mortar has stiffened, water is sprinkled on the surface and the surface is levelled with a sponge, wooden or steel float.

  5. 5

    Tool Cleaning

Tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with water after application. Once FOX SLIM MORTAR FC105 has hardened, it can only be removed from surfaces by mechanical means.

Critical

At +20°C the repair mortar must be applied within 30 minutes. This time is reduced to 20 minutes at +30°C.

Critical

Where the repair depth exceeds 5 mm, FOX MORTAR FC188 T should be used instead of FOX SLIM MORTAR FC105.

Critical

For exterior surface applications, after application the surface must be protected from sunlight, wind, rain and frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

The substrate temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. To allow the material to set completely, the ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Important

The surface must be dampened with water before application, but ponding must not be allowed to form.

Important

If the material dries quickly in hot or windy conditions, increase the mixing water by 10%.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry, cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Important

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by ambient/substrate temperature and relative humidity. Hydration slows at low temperatures and accelerates at high temperatures.

Information

Technical property values are given for conditions of +23°C and 50% relative humidity.

Important

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated.
