Product Description

FOX PROCRETE® MF is a high-performance, smooth-finish, three-component polyurethane-cement based industrial floor coating applicable at 3–6 mm thickness. It provides excellent chemical resistance, high solvent resistance and outstanding thermal shock resistance. With a density of 1.71±0.05 gr/cm³, it withstands heavy mechanical loads with compressive strength ≥55 N/mm², flexural strength ≥22 N/mm² and adhesion strength ≥3.60 N/mm². Depending on application thickness, it offers temperature resistance ranging from -5°C to +120°C. It has an R9 slip resistance classification according to DIN 51130. It serves a wide range of applications from the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries to production and storage facilities.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Quality Inspection

The concrete substrate to be coated must be sound and have sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm²) and tensile strength of at least 1.5 N/mm². The substrate temperature must be a minimum of +10°C and at least +3°C above the dew point. The substrate must be clean, dry and free from all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface curing compounds.

  2. 2

    Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates must be prepared using abrasive equipment such as shot blasting, milling or diamond grinding to remove laitance and achieve an open-pore surface. Weak concrete sections must be removed and voids and holes fully opened. The resulting dust must be removed with an industrial vacuum. For substrate repairs and filling of voids, a mortar prepared by mixing 60–70 AFS (0.1–0.3 mm) quartz sand with FOX PROCRETE® PRIMER should be used.

  3. 3

    Joint Cutting

FOX PROCRETE® MF may undergo internal shrinkage/stress. To prevent this, joints of 8–10 mm width should be cut at column edges and in the floor (at least every 4–5 metres) and the joint gaps should be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. These gaps should be filled with FOX PROCRETE® MF after the FOX PROCRETE® PRIMER application.

  4. 4

    Material Conditioning and Mixing

Before mixing, ensure that product temperatures are between +20°C and +25°C. The use of a mixer such as COLLOMIX XM 2 is recommended. After Components A and B have been fully added to the mixer, Component C powder is added on top of A+B and mixed for a maximum of 3 minutes until a homogeneous blend is achieved.

  5. 5

    Priming

Surfaces should be primed either by applying FOX PROCRETE® MF as a scratch coat using a suitable trowel, or by roller application of FOX PROCRETE® PRIMER. The overcoating window for FOX PROCRETE® PRIMER is Min. 24 – Max. 72 hours. If 72 hours is exceeded, re-priming must be carried out. If priming with FOX PROCRETE® MF, the minimum overcoating time is 8 hours.

  6. 6

    Coating Application

The prepared mixture is poured onto the previously primed surface and spread uniformly to the desired thickness using a notched trowel or suitable trowel. To prevent cold joints, the next pour must be carried out while the previous application is still wet and workable. Immediately after spreading, the material must be rolled with a spiked roller to release entrapped air and achieve a smooth surface. Application must be completed within the pot life (15–20 minutes).

  7. 7

    Tool Cleaning

After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvents such as FOX CS810 or FOX C380. Once FOX PROCRETE® MF has cured, it can only be removed from surfaces mechanically.

Critical

Application must not be carried out if the ambient or surface temperature is below +10°C or above +30°C; appropriate temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Application must not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.

Critical

The substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point. Condensation and water vapour on uncoated or freshly coated surfaces will damage the coating.

Critical

After application, protect from contact with water for at least 24 hours.

Critical

FOX PROCRETE® MF Component A freezes below 0°C; particular attention must be paid to storage conditions.

Important

Before mixing, ensure that product temperatures are between +20°C and +25°C. It is strongly recommended to mix using a mixer such as COLLOMIX XM 2 to achieve a homogeneous blend; mix for a maximum of 3 minutes.

Critical

If priming with FOX PROCRETE® PRIMER, the overcoating window is Min. 24 – Max. 72 hours. If 72 hours is exceeded, re-priming is required.

Important

After applying FOX PROCRETE® MF, at least 1 day must be allowed before applying any further coating on top.

Information

FOX PROCRETE® MF may exhibit visible colour change upon exposure to UV radiation; however, this does not affect product performance in any way.

Important

Materials to be used should be brought to the application area and stored 1–2 days before application to allow acclimatisation to ambient conditions.

Important

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture. Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Critical

Approaching storage and application areas with open flame is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, seek medical attention immediately.
