Product Description
FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 is a cement-based, non-shrink repair and filler mortar containing special mineral fillers, developed for applications requiring high strength in a short time. It is used for filling, levelling, and preparing cracks and damaged areas on walls and floors for coating. The product is mixed with water only and provides an effective repair solution on surfaces with an application thickness of 0–4 mm. For large areas or fills exceeding 5 mm, sand of 0–4 mm particle size can be added at a 1:3 ratio. The surface can be walked on and coated 1–1.5 hours after application; final cure is reached at 28 days. Compressive strength reaches ≥12.47 N/mm² at 1 day and ≥27.22 N/mm² at 28 days.
Key Benefits
- Can be opened to traffic just 1–1.5 hours after application, minimising downtime in work processes.
- Mixed with water only; requires no additional admixtures, simplifying the application process.
- High compressive strength (≥27.22 N/mm² at 28 days) ensures long-lasting repairs.
- Non-shrink; resistant to freeze-thaw cycles, reducing the risk of cracking in the repaired area.
- Does not segregate or bleed water; forms a permanent and homogeneous structure on the applied surface.
- Can be used for substrate preparation prior to various system applications such as epoxy, polyurethane, self-levelling screed, and waterproofing.
Advantages
- Gains strength rapidly; can be opened to traffic 1–1.5 hours after application.
- Mixed with water only.
- Has high compressive strength.
- Does not segregate or bleed water.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw effects.
Usage Areas
- Repair and correction of surface defects on concrete structural elements
- Surface levelling or repair work prior to tile, ceramic, marble, and similar coverings
- Achieving a sound and even surface prior to epoxy, polyurethane, and similar floor coatings
- Substrate repairs prior to self-levelling screed applications
- Levelling concrete surfaces before waterproofing and surface finishing of areas repaired with structural repair mortars
- Repair of wall and ceiling plasters
- Achieving a smooth and impermeable surface on concrete surfaces prior to painting
Application Steps
- 1
Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from all dust and dirt. Broken surfaces to be repaired should be made as vertical as possible. Water must be drained and removed from surfaces with standing water. Dry surfaces must be dampened.
- 2
Mixing
Only full and unopened bags must be used. The appropriate amount of clean water specified on the packaging (approximately 4.75±0.25 lt for a 25 kg bag; approximately 190±10 ml per 1 kg) is placed into a clean mixing container. FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 is slowly and continuously added to the water while mixing with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm with a suitable attachment for approximately 3–4 minutes until homogeneous. No lumps should remain in the material. Consistency must not be adjusted by adding extra water.
- 3
Application
The prepared mortar is applied in a single pass using a trowel, with a thickness of 1 mm to 5 mm per coat. For large areas or fills, sand of 0–4 mm particle size can be added at a 1:3 ratio for thicknesses exceeding 5 mm. Pot life at +20°C is 20 minutes; the prepared mortar must be used within this time.
- 4
Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 must be mixed with water only. Consistency must not be adjusted by adding extra water.
FOX FASTMORTAR FC245 must be applied within 20 minutes (pot life) at +20°C. The prepared mortar must be used within this time.
The substrate temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Ambient and substrate temperatures must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.
Damaged and opened bags must not be used under any circumstances. It is strongly recommended to mix only full and unopened bags.
Water must be drained and removed from surfaces with standing water; dry surfaces must be dampened.
The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by ambient and substrate temperature and relative humidity. At low temperatures, pot life and working time are extended; at high temperatures, they are shortened.
Opened packaging must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.
The product must be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, in a cool and dry environment, protected from frost. For short-term storage, no more than 3 pallets should be stacked on top of each other.
Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask must be worn during application. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated. Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas, and the product must be stored out of reach of children.
