Product Description

FOX BETON RP25 RAPID is a cement-based, polymer-modified, fibre-reinforced, factory-blended ready-mix dry concrete/screed mortar. Thanks to its fast-setting properties, the surface can be walked on just 3 hours after application. It can be tiled with ceramic and similar stone materials after 4 hours, and covered with elastic and textile-based materials such as PVC, parquet and carpet after 48 hours. With a compressive strength of ≥25 N/mm² and a flexural strength of ≥6 N/mm², it meets the C25 concrete strength class. An application thickness ranging from 10 mm to 70 mm offers wide application flexibility. The ready-mix format minimises material waste, while its homogeneous composition ensures uniform strength at every point of application.

Usage Areas

  • Interior and exterior areas
  • Correcting surface irregularities and eliminating level differences
  • Where a smooth, trowelled finish is required
  • Door and window lintels, beams and headers
  • Floor screeds and many other applications

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

The substrate must be clean, dry, dust-free and sound; it must not be frozen, efflorescent or lime-stained. If cement, plaster, gypsum or similar materials are present, the surface must be cleaned. Weak concrete fragments must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened up. Any resulting dust must be removed with an industrial vacuum. For applications on concrete and existing screeds, the surface must be specially primed with a primer prepared with FOX BINDER FM125.

  2. 2

    Priming

To improve adhesion, the surface must be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 primer using the wet-on-wet application method. FOX BETON RP25 RAPID must be applied onto the primer without allowing it to dry.

  3. 3

    Mixing

Approximately 95–110 ml of water should be used per 1 kg of FOX BETON RP25 RAPID. For a 25 kg bag, approximately 2.375–2.75 litres of water are required. Mix in a bucket using a concrete mixer or hand mixer for 4–5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

  4. 4

    Application (Floor Levelling / Screed)

The mortar is spread and levelled using a trowel or other necessary hand tools. Premature drying of the mortar must be prevented; it must be allowed to cure under natural conditions. Depending on weather conditions, a trowel finish can be applied to the surface approximately 1–1.5 hours later using a float. After 4 hours, the surface can be tiled with ceramic and similar stone materials; after 48 hours, elastic and textile-based materials such as PVC, parquet and carpet can be applied. After checking the surface moisture, epoxy or polyurethane-based coatings can be applied after 48 hours or later.

  5. 5

    Curing

If external conditions are very harsh for 1 week from the date of application, the surface must be covered or kept moist. The ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature.

Critical

Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +25°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.

Critical

Exceeding the mixing water quantities specified in the technical documentation will result in a loss of strength in the product.

Critical

FOX BETON RP25 RAPID must be applied onto the primer without allowing it to dry (wet-on-wet application).

Critical

Premature drying of the mortar must be prevented. Mortar forced to dry by draught or external factors risks cracking and failing to achieve the required strength.

Important

If external conditions are very harsh for 1 week from the date of application, the surface must be covered or kept moist.

Important

The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying.

Important

Application should not be carried out in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.

Important

Materials to be used on the application area should be brought to the site and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to ambient conditions.

Important

In applications carried out in extremely cold weather, heaters should be used to raise the ambient and substrate temperature, and the materials to be used should be conditioned at +20°C/+25°C before application.

Important

The ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature for the product to complete its curing.

Important

When stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, the shelf life of the product is 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Important

Must be stored in its original unopened packaging, in a cool and dry environment, away from direct sunlight and protected from frost.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Important

Avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; areas must be ventilated.

Information

The technical values above are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.

Information

The working and reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by the ambient/substrate temperature and relative humidity. Reactions slow down at low temperatures and accelerate at high temperatures.
