Product Description
FOX BETON RP40 is a factory-mixed, ready-to-use dry concrete/screed mortar with C40 concrete strength, based on cement and containing polymer additives and fibre reinforcement. It offers ≥40 N/mm² compressive strength and ≥6 N/mm² flexural strength in accordance with EN 13813. The maximum particle size is 4 mm and it is suitable for application thicknesses ranging from 10 cm to 70 cm. It is used indoors and outdoors for correcting surface defects, eliminating level differences, floor screeds, door and window lintels, and beam applications. Its ready-mix formulation minimises material waste and ensures ease of application.

Application Steps

Surface Preparation
The substrate must be clean, dry, dust-free, and sound; it must not be frozen, salt-efflorescent, or lime-bloomed. If cement, plaster, gypsum, or similar materials are present, the surface must be cleaned. Weak concrete fragments must be removed, and small voids and holes must be fully opened up. The resulting dust must be removed with an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Priming – PCC Primer
To improve adhesion, the surface should be primed using the wet-on-wet method. The primer is prepared by mixing 1 part cement + 1 part FOX BINDER FM125 + 2 parts water. It is spread homogeneously with a brush at a consumption rate of 0.35 kg/m² onto the surface that has been cleaned and dampened 12 hours in advance. FOX BETON RP40 must be applied before the primer dries.

Priming – Acrylic Primer
Before applying FOX BETON RP40, the existing surface should be primed with FOX UNIPRIMER FL555 to improve adhesion. After the primer has dried, FOX BETON RP40 can be applied.

Mixing
For mortar consistency: approximately 120±10 ml of water per 1 kg of product; approximately 3.0±0.25 litres of water per 25 kg bag. For dry screed consistency: approximately 110±10 ml of water per 1 kg of product; approximately 2.75±0.25 litres of water per 25 kg bag. The specified water quantities must not be exceeded; excess water leads to loss of strength.

Application
FOX BETON RP40 should be mixed in a bucket using a concrete mixer or hand mixer for 4–5 minutes until homogeneous. It is spread and levelled using a trowel or other necessary hand tools. Premature drying of the mortar must be prevented; it must be allowed to cure under natural conditions. Depending on weather conditions, a trowel finish can be applied approximately 1.5–2 hours after application. If outdoor conditions are harsh for 1 week after application, the surface must be covered or kept moist.
Application should not be carried out if the ambient and surface temperature is below +10°C or above +30°C; suitable temperatures must be awaited.
Exceeding the mixing water quantities specified in the technical documentation will result in a loss of strength.
The freshly applied product must be protected from sunlight and wind to prevent rapid drying.
Application must not be carried out in excessively hot, rainy, or windy weather.
There is a risk of cracking and failure to achieve the required strength if the mortar is force-dried by draught or external factors; it must be allowed to cure under natural conditions.
If outdoor conditions are very harsh for 1 week from the date of application, the surface must be covered or kept moist.
Materials to be used on the application area should be brought and stored 1–2 days in advance to allow them to acclimatise to ambient conditions.
In extremely cold weather, the ambient and substrate temperature should be raised using heaters; materials to be used must be conditioned at +20°C – +25°C and made ready for application.
The ambient and substrate temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature for the material to complete its curing.
Store in the original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and protected from frost. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Wear work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, and a mask during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
Store out of reach of children.
The reaction times of cement-based systems are affected by ambient temperature and relative humidity; the reaction slows at low temperatures and accelerates at high temperatures.
