Product Description
FOX PROMORTAR is a high-performance, water-repellent, cement and lime-based masonry mortar suitable for use on interior and exterior walls. Meeting the requirements of EN 998-2:2016, this product is used for laying wall blocks such as brick, insulating brick, concrete block and pumice block, as a rough/levelling render, and as a substrate prior to final coat application. Thanks to its composition containing mineral fillers and polymer-reinforced special cement, it offers a compressive strength of ≥5 N/mm² (M5) and a bond strength of ≥0.2 N/mm².

Application Steps

Surface Preparation
The surface must be load-bearing, clean, dry and free from frost; it must be free of dust, dirt, oil, release agent, loose particles and curing compound residues. Highly absorbent blocks and surfaces must be dampened before application to prevent early water absorption from the mortar (no free water should remain on the surface). The need for a primer/bonding bridge on surfaces with varying absorbency should be assessed according to the project.

Mixing
The appropriate amount of water indicated on the packaging (approximately 4.75±0.25 litres for a 25 kg bag) is placed in a clean mixing container. FOX PROMORTAR is added slowly to the water and mixed with an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm for approximately 3–4 minutes until homogeneous. The material is left to rest for 30 seconds and then mixed again for 1 minute. No additives such as lime, cement, gypsum, sand, antifreeze, etc. must be added to the mix other than water.

Application
To compensate for level differences on the base, the first course is levelled using a suitable conventional mortar. This step is not required for subsequent courses. The prepared mortar is applied with a trowel to the horizontal and vertical contact surfaces of the blocks. After the blocks are placed, they are tapped gently from above and from the side to seat them in position.

Tool Cleaning
Tools and equipment used after application must be cleaned with water. Once FOX PROMORTAR has hardened, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Masonry mortar application must be carried out at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Application outside this range must not be performed.

Mortar that has begun to set must not be re-mixed by adding water or fresh mortar.

No additives such as lime, cement, gypsum, sand, antifreeze, etc. must be added to the product.

In windy conditions, the surface must be protected against rapid drying.

The product must be stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry and cool environment (between +5°C and +30°C), protected from sunlight and frost. Opened packaging must be used within 1 week.

Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn during application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

The specified water mixing ratio applies to a 25 kg bag of powder product at +23°C and 50% relative humidity; the amount of water may be adjusted according to ambient conditions.

The technical values above are given at +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the time, lower temperatures extend it.
