Product Description

FOX PURATHANE® SBR BINDER 110 is a single-component, solvent-free polyurethane-based binder designed for sports surfaces. It is used for bonding mat layers to the substrate in seamless flooring applications and for binding SBR and EPDM rubber granules in poured-in-place flooring systems. The product is resistant to chemical influences, physical stresses and minor substrate movements; thanks to its moisture-curing formulation, it can be used safely in both indoor and outdoor applications. It is mixed at a ratio of 18–20% binder to 80–85% rubber granules and applied at the desired thickness using a paving machine. Since the curing reaction takes place with atmospheric moisture, ambient temperature and humidity are of critical importance.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

    The concrete substrate surfaces to be treated must be prepared using abrasive equipment (shot blasting, milling, diamond grinding, etc.) to remove the cement laitance and achieve an open-pored surface. Weak concrete particles must be removed from the surface, and small voids and holes must be fully opened. The resulting dust must be cleaned with an industrial vacuum. Substrate repairs and filling of voids must be carried out with FOX MORTAR T FC 188 T repair mortar.

    Checking Application Conditions

    The surface moisture content must be below 4% (CM measurement or oven-drying method). There must be no rising moisture according to ASTM (polyethylene sheet test). Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%, and the substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point. Temperature and humidity measurements must be taken before commencing application.

    Mixing

    Mixed with dry SBR or EPDM granules at a ratio of 18–20% binder to 80–85% rubber granules. The mixture is blended in a clean, dry mechanical mixer using an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm with an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing paddle until all rubber granules are wetted with the binder and a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

    Application

    The FOX PURATHANE® SBR BINDER 110 – rubber granule mixture is poured into the paving machine and applied to the surface at the desired thickness.

    Tool Cleaning

    After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvent or polyurethane thinner. Once FOX PURATHANE® SBR BINDER 110 has cured, it can only be removed from surfaces by mechanical means.

Critical

The substrate temperature during application must be a minimum of +10°C and a maximum of +30°C. Application must not be carried out outside this range.

After application is complete, the coating must be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. Water contact will cause softening and blistering of the coating; in such a case the coating must be completely removed and reapplied.

The mixture must not be applied to a wet substrate. The mixture must not be prepared and application must not be carried out during rainy weather.

Relative air humidity must be a maximum of 80%. Attention must be paid to dew point and condensation. The substrate temperature must be at least +3°C above the dew point.

Concrete surfaces to be coated with epoxy/polyurethane must be at least 3 weeks old prior to application.

Important

Materials to be used should be brought to the application site 1–2 days in advance and allowed to acclimatise to ambient conditions.

Important

In cold weather, packaging should be kept at +20°C – +25°C to improve workability before use.

Important

Mixing must be carried out with an electric mixer at 300–400 rpm and an epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing paddle. Failure to use the specified mixing paddle may result in air bubbles forming in the coating.

Important

Rain, dust, wind, animals and insects must be prevented from entering the application area while the coating is still fresh.

Important

The product must be stored between +5°C and +30°C, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry environment. Shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture.

Approaching storage and application areas with open flames is dangerous. Storage and application areas must be ventilated.

Critical

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Contact with skin and eyes must be avoided; in case of contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Information

The values in the technical specifications are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the times; lower temperatures extend them.
