Product Description

FOX EPOMORTAR FC543 is an epoxy-based, three-component (A: Epoxy Resin, B: Epoxy Hardener, C: Specially Graded Quartz Aggregate), solvent-free and thixotropic structural repair and filling mortar. Evaluated under Bayındırlık Poz No: 04.613/8-b, the product is used for the repair of reinforced concrete structural elements, surface repairs prior to floor coverings, repair and maintenance of marine structures, protection of underground structures, filling of gaps between reinforced concrete columns and steel reinforcement, repair of wide cracks, and bridge bearings. At +23°C and 50% relative humidity, it achieves a compressive strength of 25 N/mm² in 1 day and 50 N/mm² in 7 days. It can be applied in a single coat at thicknesses between 4 mm and 50 mm. It cures without shrinkage and can be applied without a primer.

Key Benefits

  • Saves labour and time as it can be applied without a primer.
  • Its solvent-free formulation allows safe application in enclosed and poorly ventilated areas.
  • Offers long-term structural reliability with high compressive, flexural and tensile strength.
  • Cures without shrinkage, preventing crack formation in the repair area.
  • Responds to different damage depths in a single coat with an application thickness range of 4–50 mm.
  • Delivers long-lasting performance in marine structures and underground conditions thanks to its chemical and abrasion resistance.

Advantages

  • Can be applied without a primer.
  • High chemical resistance.
  • High compressive, flexural and tensile strength.
  • High abrasion and impact resistance.
  • Long pot life and working time.
  • Solvent-free.
  • Cures without shrinkage.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Surface Preparation

Surfaces to be repaired must be sound and free from all dust and dirt. Broken surfaces to be repaired should be made as vertical as possible, and rust and residues on the reinforcement must be cleaned. Reinforcement should be added if necessary.

  2. 2

    Mixing

Components A and B should be added to a clean mixing bucket and mixed for 2 minutes using an electric mixer at 400–600 rpm with a suitable mixing paddle. Component C should then be added slowly and mixed until a homogeneous, lump-free mixture is obtained.

  3. 3

    Application

The prepared mixture should be applied to the surface with a trowel. The thickness should be between 4 mm and 50 mm. The maximum application thickness must not exceed 50 mm in a single coat.

  4. 4

    Tool Cleaning

After application, tools and equipment used must be cleaned immediately with solvent. Once FOX EPOMORTAR FC543 has cured, it can only be removed from the surface mechanically.

Critical

FOX EPOMORTAR FC543 should not be applied at temperatures below +5°C or above +30°C. At +20°C it must be applied within 40 minutes, and at +30°C within 30 minutes.

Critical

For outdoor applications, the product must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind and frost for the first 24 hours.

Critical

The substrate temperature and ambient temperature must not fall below the permitted minimum temperature for the material to complete its cure.

Critical

Solvents or similar substances must not be added to the prepared mixture during application.

Important

Working and reaction times of epoxy-based repair mortars are affected by air temperature, humidity and substrate temperatures. High temperatures shorten the working time; low temperatures extend it.

Important

Opened packages must be resealed and consumed within 1 week.

Important

Store in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry place, protected from frost. For short-term storage, stack no more than 3 pallets high. For long-term storage, pallets must not be stacked on top of each other.

Critical

It is dangerous to approach storage and application areas with open flames; these areas must be ventilated.

Important

During application, appropriate work clothing, protective gloves, goggles and a mask must be worn in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Critical

During storage and application, the product must not come into contact with skin or eyes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap; if swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

Important

Food and beverages must not be brought into application areas. Store out of reach of children.

Information

The above technical values are given for +23°C and 50% relative humidity conditions. High temperatures shorten the time; low temperatures extend it.
